I posted this in the California forum, but I think it got lost so I'm posting it here!
Who here is applying for the CSULA nursing program for Fall 2014? What are your stats? Have you taken the TEAS exam yet? I'm excited!
I have not taken the TEAS yet, but have my date scheduled for Oct. 25th.
Well, I applaud your perseverance and wish you the best in your nursing career.
However, In what regard is County considered the BEST nursing program?
In a ranking of all Los Angeles Nursing Programs, the best was considered to be UCLA, followed by CSULA and then Mt. St. Mary.
(Top Ranked Nursing School - Los Angeles, CA)
I'm sure the County program is a fine program with talented and knowledgeable instructors. However, to call it the best nursing program around seems a bit subjective.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to speak ill of the LA County program. And I hope you get in and finally finish this application game… I know I'm tired of it….
Again, good luck with County, or wherever you decide....

That article also says GRADUATE schools. Any school that offers a bachelors or higher is obviously going to rank higher on paper than a school that only offers an associates. Opinion are opinions and we both have one.
The first article is about ALL nursing programs offered in Los Angeles. And you did say County is better than any ADN or BSN offered.
The second article is on nationally ranked graduate schools.
Like I said, I'm not talking down about it, I just do not agree that it is the best school for nursing education. They do not offer nearly the amount of courses or clinical experience time prior to graduation.
By saying it is the best seems to undermine the great university programs.
You'd think the "best" would at least be qualified to offer a minimum BSN. Notbthe mention a master's or doctorate.
Either way, like you said, it's just opinion. I agree, country probably has one of the best ADN programs compared to most others offered at community colleges.
I think the best Cal State option would be San Francisco. And the best local program would probably be LA.
The "best" of any offered ADN or BSN locally, is UCLA....in my opinion.
