Csula Fall 2014 applicants..

Published

I posted this in the California forum, but I think it got lost so I'm posting it here!

Who here is applying for the CSULA nursing program for Fall 2014? What are your stats? Have you taken the TEAS exam yet? I'm excited!

I have not taken the TEAS yet, but have my date scheduled for Oct. 25th.

BTW, the guy I talked to on Monday is the same guy I handed my acceptance letter for admission today. He told me that right after he talked to me on Monday he mailed my acceptance letter. He just couldn't tell me while we were talking, but he knew the whole time!

In a normal full-time semester system, people take 5-6 classes. In a quarter system, people take 3-4 classes. Since quarter is faster, you need a smaller load. Since semester is longer, it's easier to take on more classes. But both still complete the same amount in one year.

I think that is completely subjective…. these are not junior college classes… and still, 5-6 classes?? that's crazy… these classes are very difficult, and each require many hours of study… just because the semester is 5 weeks longer, doesn't mean we have to learn any less… 5 extra weeks does not mean adding a few classes is negligible.

Adding 2-3 complete nursing courses to the already planned nursing courses? I don't want to see that happening…. This is making me nervous now…lol

Personally, I have never taken 5-6 courses (15-20 units) in a semester. I always took 4 courses, max. I find it highly unlikely that anyone taking that many units, in challenging subjects, would be able to stretch themselves enough to study/learn/and earn all A's…

The program pamphlet even says you will be able to have a part time job, and time with family….

Now I really want to know… aye yai yai... we are going to be the Guinea pigs…lol

Well it might be that even though the school switches over to semester that the nursing school might do 8 week semester classes where you still take 15-18 units but split in half

Okay, I just think that when it turns to semester it'll be the regular fall courses we need to take plus half the courses from the following winter. Then spring will be the other half of winter courses plus the regular spring courses.

What email can I send my acceptance of enrollment?

So I called about the "bp" that was on my csula application at the end of my major... It was for people earning a second bachelors and she said it was weird that it was on mine... Hopefully that's why my application status is still incomplete! Hoping to hear from the nursing school soon as well :]

For everyone else still in my boat.. Good luck!

Well, this might help.

It makes sense in a quarter system… It will be every interesting to see how they structure our semesters though… I can't see us taking 8 nursing courses at the same time. That's overkill. How can you focus on that many subjects and retain all the information?

I'm sure am glad I finished those other courses though.. I won't have to take them along with the gazillion nursing courses.

I know me too! The extra year or so taking ge classes were definitely worth it and that's one less thing to have to worry about in nursing school.

we have our upper ge's to look forward to
