I posted this in the California forum, but I think it got lost so I'm posting it here!
Who here is applying for the CSULA nursing program for Fall 2014? What are your stats? Have you taken the TEAS exam yet? I'm excited!
I have not taken the TEAS yet, but have my date scheduled for Oct. 25th.
Semester change over is fall 2016. Per the website:
California State University, Los Angeles will befully converted from a quarter system of threequarters per academic year (10 weeks of edu-cational instruction per term) , to a semestersystem of two semesters per academic year (15weeks of educational instruction per term)beginning Fall semester 2016.
There is a whole section of their website dedicated to dealing with this topic: http://web.calstatela.edu/academic/aa/semester/students/index.php
My guess is that you take more classes in a semester than in one quarter so it evens out - three quarters = 2 semesters. It is still 30 total weeks of instruction.
Well, it will happen at some point during our program.
He did say 2015 very clearly; but again, i'm just repeating what I heard, so I don't know what is correct, one way or another.
And at this point, it makes no difference to me. I'm IN.. That's the important part....
I didnt even know about this until the director mentioned it.
I had quarters at Musicians Institute, it did seem to go by fast...
I am also curious to see how it will work compared to the semester...
We will have first hand experience on the contrasts soon enough...lol

How can you take more classes?
I dont think they would add more courses to our already heavy, and now extended, work load....

I have no idea the details. He just said that beginning 2015 we switch. I asked about the program length amd how many semesters. He said, "I don't know the math, but it will equal the same amount of time as the quarter system".
