Csula Fall 2014 applicants..

Published

I posted this in the California forum, but I think it got lost so I'm posting it here!

Who here is applying for the CSULA nursing program for Fall 2014? What are your stats? Have you taken the TEAS exam yet? I'm excited!

I have not taken the TEAS yet, but have my date scheduled for Oct. 25th.

@joanpant Congrats you earned it :)

just keep waiting! The fact that I got my letter before the accept/decline deadline means that they could just be sending a few letters everyday.

Hopefully I may get something tomorrow.. I had a substitute mailman today lol

I'm sorry to hijack this thread for just a second but I read everything you guys have written with a lot of interest because I will be applying next year so I have a question that maybe on of you can answer?

I will have all my pre-reqs done for CSULA and CSULB done at the end of this spring except for stats.

I have a 4.0 in my pre-reqs and a 4.0 in my GE's. However, I have 2 W's. One of them is a computer science class (I was in way over my head). And I got another W in physiology. I'm pretty sure that the W in comp sci won't hurt me but the W in physio will. Can someone tell what penalty will be assessed from CSULA and LB for my W in physio? I can't seem to find an answer online anywhere.

Hi runstohousebeats.

I plan on doing their collaborative ADN-BSN route, which they offer to community college students that are enrolled in an ADN program. This means that I attend community college ADN program for two years, and take BSN courses during summers, while still enrolled in my ADN program, and then I join the BSN students during the last, third year at Cal State. I applied to a few community colleges, but my college of choice would be LACC as it is my home college where I took all the prereqs and they offer a very good counseling regarding that Cal State collaborative program. Hopefully, I will start this fall and join this cohort in their last year.Fingers crossed! :-)

Their web site for this collaborative ADN-BSN route has FAQ's, and one of the questions referred to your question. This is their answer, "What hurts the students more, a "W" or "D/F" in their prerequisite? D/F. We don't look at W's."

So, I guess those W's will not hurt you after all. Good luck!

Be careful, you can only apply twice at LB. Having an in-progress class at CSULB will most likely drop your score to unacceptable levels... just be sure to calculate your score before you apply as to not waste one of your attempts..

They probably send them out, one-by-one, as they get denial letters from accepted candidates....

... I got nothing!!!

Don't be too down as I am on the same boat as you are. Don't worry. Stay positive. Still hoping and waiting for good news status mail.

Hopefully I may get something tomorrow..

i hope for me also.

Just got a phone call from one of the directors. He hadn't received my acceptance letter.

The other day, I got really busy and never made it to the campus. I did fax the letter yesterday, but he told me the other lady's (u know her name) inbox is really full, and she is not in today. He could not get into her office to confirm receipt of the letter.

He told me that it was fine, and it is most likely in her inbox. He made a note that I accepted the offer, and told me to fax it again, and take a picture and send the email for double and triple backup (then he laughed)

BIGGEST NEWS:

Beginning 2015, CSULA switches to a semester system....

Means a little slower paced and mellow environment for the students. The progam will be the same length of time, but formatted a little differently... I'm happy about that. Personally, quarters are very crammed and rushed feeling.

So at least we know:

If they don't receive your letter, they will call you before x'ing your name off the list...

I thought it was 2016, that our 3rd year is when it converts o.o

Well, the director guy just told me it was going to be a special cohort because its the first time they are doing this.

He said he had actually been waiting for this to happen since he was a student there, and very excited that it would finally begin 2015.

This is just what I heard. I'm guessing he knows best, and that was straight from the horse's mouth. But i'm just relaying the message...

I had no idea it was even changing 'til he told me.

Hmmmm, very interesting. So it sounds like our cohort will be converting one year ahead?
