CSULA ABSN 2016

Published

Hi everyone! I haven't seen a thread started for this yet so figured I should start one! I'm applying to CSULA's ABSN program for Summer 2016 and am about to submit my application in the next few days. Who else is applying? Figured we could all support each other and keep each other updated during this nerve-wracking process :)

Hey everyone!

I got an email yesterday saying they received my application and to be patient with the process and I got an email today inviting me to interview! My interview will be the first week in February.

@Hanabiwabi congrats! When did you submit your application? I still haven't received the email confirming my application was received :(

I think my application was received on the exact deadline I cut it close!

Wow it's super early this year!! When is your interview?

My interview is on the first week of Feb

Wow Fuji11! That's awesome news.. Now I'm jealous and freaking out í ½í¸«í ½í¸±. I'm so anxious to hear something now. I hope you rock the interview!

Hey everyone! I'm applying as well. I unfortunately submitted everything really last minute (took my TEAS on the 20th lol), so I'm a little worried about that. The program coordinator emailed me today and asked for my TEAS scores in order to expedite my application so hopefully that is a good sign? To all of those who have been granted interviews... what are your stats like? I'm feeling a little insecure, I have a 4.00 in my pre-nursing prep and a 93.3%/99th percentile on the TEAS which is pretty decent but my undergrad GPA is low--3.20 from UCLA (English). Good luck to everyone! :)) Hoping for CSULA or UCLA MECN.

Someone asked for stats from people who have heard back for interviews. I'm interviewing the first week in February and my stats are:

4.0 in nursing pre-reqs

99th National Percentile Rank for TEAS

3.7 Undergrad

I have my CNA but have not worked as a CNA

I worked in a clinic as basically a Medical Assistant and clinic coordinator for 3 years

I am currently volunteering in a hospital (though I don't know if that will count towards this application at all because I just started)

I'm really excited to have an interview but honestly I'm keeping my expectations low. Last year I applied to UCLA (only school I qualified for with prereqs at the time) and didn't even make the wait list and it was such a major bummer. I've spent the last year trying to stack my resume more (CNA, volunteering) and manage my expectations so just hearing back from a school about an interview means a lot to be because honestly I didn't think I would. I also applied to waaaay more schools this year.

Nice! You sound really competitive :). UCLA is really strange... From what I've heard it's all about the statement of purpose and everything else is secondary. People have even gotten accepted with below a 3.00 (I'm sure not much below). Hopefully this year!

Specializes in ICU.

You guys all are with very competitive scores. My overall GPA is just above 3.0 too. I didn't care much about school before so no matter what I did later couldn't pull my GPA up. I was young and careless I guess. But my pre req GPA is prety good and teas is like 93rd percentile I think. I am just trying to calm myself down and not worry that much about the results. Worrying will not change anything, will just make the situation stressful.

Undergrad GPA: 3.2

Pre-req GPA: 3.8

TEAS: 95th percentile

My stats are not that stellar. Think my EMT experience helped. I got a really good letter from my EMT supervisor and a professor I did research with. Poured my heart into that personal statement. Did some volunteering here and there, but not much. I'm staying calm though, an interview doesn't mean acceptance.

@Apisha don't worry too much, I think these interview invites will go on for about 3-4 weeks! There is still time to be notified! Stay positive!

Yes. I am not that stressed out as of now. EMT experience is great to show in the resume. I am just staying positive and keeping my My fingers crossed. Thanks [emoji4]

Do we have any idea of how many interview invites this program gives out?
