Hi everyone! I haven't seen a thread started for this yet so figured I should start one! I'm applying to CSULA's ABSN program for Summer 2016 and am about to submit my application in the next few days. Who else is applying? Figured we could all support each other and keep each other updated during this nerve-wracking process :)
Hi VIta108!
How are you feeling about the program at this point? What is your weekly schedule like? Do you have clinicals on weekends? I would love to hear anything about your experience so far.
I just got accepted to APU ELM program. I am trying to hold our for CSULA just in case I get in.... I heard we would not find out if we even get an interview until end of Feb (although some people are saying they already are getting calls for interviews).
Thanks so much for sharing on this site!

Most clinicals are weekdays. There were a few clinical rotation groups who had weekend clinicals, but weekdays are the most common. I attended when the program was still quarter system so I don't know how semester will affect scheduling. I'm now in the MSN portion.
If you're wondering about jobs, I believe the majority of students who wanted jobs now have them at places like Kaiser, Cedars, CHLA, etc. Also 100% NCLEX pass rate this last round. Overall, a good program compared to other options in the state.

Thanks so much for the info! That's great to hear that everyone is easily finding jobs. This seems like the best program, especially for those who want NP.
Are you working while doing the MSN portion? And did you work at all during the ABSN program? I am wondering because I have the opportunity to work one weekend per month and I could still study. It would really help me support myself but I've been told I should plan not to work at all. Were you in classes/clinicals 5 days a week? How did you do with the ABSN workload.

I am working part time while doing full time school. Others work full time while doing school part time. Many variations. I did not woek during the ABSN part but others did. One worked full time and did school full time. IMO you can easily work one weekend per month and do full time school. Usually you go to school 2x/wk and go to clinicals 1-2x/wk. It depends on what kind of clincals you have. However my experience was when the program was quarter system. I found the ABSN portion's workload manageable with no job.

Great. I really hope I get in. I know there's fierce competition. Congratulations on your academic success. It must be so nice to be in the MSN portion now. Thanks again for answering my questions!
Hi all! My name is Rachel and I applied for the ABSN program too. I mailed my application the 11th, was assured by the man at the post office it would arrive on the 13th, or 14th at the latest. I still haven't gotten an email confirmation about receiving my application--is anyone else still in this boat?
Also, I'm doing my last semester of prereqs but got the ok from the program coordinator that I could still apply. Is anyone else in this situation? I'm really nervous about appearing as a weaker candidate since I still have classes in progress

pre req in progress shouldn't hurt ur Chances of getting interview if ur overall application is stronger. The only thing is that if your application got in after the due date that might hurt the selection process. They should have emailed you about receiving the application. Have you emailed them and ask if you have received their app?
Have it on my docket for tomorrow morning since it's late tonight :) I was in touch with the program director for the first few weeks in January to clarify about what classes I was still taking, so I can reach out to her.
I was under the impression that as long as applications were postmarked before the deadline and received by Jan. 20th it was okay?

I was told that the due date was the 13th Jan. So personally went to drop the app. I dont know about the postmarked date. I got email right away that the application was received. It's weird how you haven't received the email. May be they got super bz
