I emailed them on 1/22 if they received my app and got this response on 1/26.
"I have over 200+ applications and therefore cannot go looking for yours or any other applicant's. I ask that you be patient with the process. I will email you once I open and review your materials."
However, later that night (1/26), an email arrived verifying receipt of my app. I'm not sure if she actually looked out for my app since I had emailed her, or if it was by mere coincidence. Anyhow, I hope this can be of some help

Interesting. When I emailed her on 01/24 I got a response on the 26th telling me there were "a few hundred" applicants and they are still reviewing applications. She also said she's expecting to accept 30 students like last year and that interviews will be in February/March.

Hi all. I was in your shoes this time last year and was just as anxious. I can tell you that the program coordinator is very busy, so just be a bit more patient. In addition to reviewing each and every application that comes in - she teaches classes, is working on arranging our spring quarter clinical sites and instructors, and is securing 30 preceptors for our summer quarter. Oh and she is conducting research to support her PhD candidacy. She is incredibly thoughtful and does not rush the process. The emails and interview invites will come in spurts, so if you do not get an email in the beginning, hang tight and you may get one later. I received mine on the later end, but as you can see - all worked out! Trust me - it is all worth the wait! Before you know it your life will be a whirlwind of classes and clinical rotations.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, TLeeM. If it's not inappropriate, could you tell us about the writing sample? Is the prompt very specific (for example, to some current nursing issue) or more general (like, what is nursing to you?). Is there anything you would suggest we do to prepare for it?
Thank you!
Unfortunately I cannot give any specifics, but I can say it will relate to nursing and will probably be on a topic you are very familiar with or at least have a solid opinion about. Do not stress over it. If you know the career you are getting into, then you should be good!

Howdy!
I know this is really far in advance, but I wanted to make sure I squared away everything I could and there aren't even any sessions scheduled in the near future. Did quite well professionally (31 now) in non-medical field and completing my undergrad in psychology at CSUN this Spring '15. I've realized however that I have a passion for nursing (through a few personal life experiences + fiance is a nurse). I am a male as well, does that help (unsure if they have gender ratios to maintain)
I will be applying this fall and wanted to seek some input from those that have applied/been accepted and if they could share some info!
I work full-time as of right now and would not have an issue submitting my notice for resignation upon acceptance to an accelerated program (as this is the career I'd like to be in). I am taking my pre-reqs currently (science) while working full time and should be completed by December 2015 (Phys/Micro in fall).
Current undergrad GPA: 3.98, Prereq (minus science courses) is at 4.0
I have applied for a voluenteer position though don't think I can find the time to apply for CNA/EMT courses as I hoped to work in my current managerial role until potential acceptance.
I was hoping to get the following information from those that have applied/been accepted:
Did you have CNA/EMT experience? How many hours did you volunteer, and through who for direct patient experience? What was your pre-req GPA? (I have looked under previous forum posts, and some have listed, others private messaged those asking. I saw that CSUN lists the prereq average at 3.9)
Also curious would letter of recs be best coming from employers/medical field personnel/professors? I could get great ones from CSUN faculty, but wanted to know how I should diversify them. Sorry, I'm a planner and with apps only coming once a year, wanted to try to strengthen my chances.
TLDR: Making a huge career shift to follow my love, great overall gpa (3.98) > 4.0 so far on prereq. No prior experience (worried about this.) -- and no EMT/CNA. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated.

All,
Just received my invitation for an interview at CSULA. It sounds like they'll be doing them Feb/March.
@jackbandit That's awesome! You're going to do great!!! When is your invite? Did they call or e-mail you? Did you receive confirmation of receipt of your application before or is this the first you're hearing from them?
Thanks. I'm still coordinating the date of my interview, but I will have to fly out to LA since I'm coming from out-of-state. They e-mailed me to let me know they were inviting me to interview with them. They e-mailed me when they received my application and another time when they received my TEAS scores. We also had some e-mail traffic when they had questions about my pre-requisites.
They (Program coordinator/Grad Assistant) have been pretty good about responding to my e-mails in a timely manner.
Hopefully you hear from them soon!

I had emailed the assistant last week but haven't gotten an email back yet :/ ahh!!
@jackbandit
Congrats!! When did you send in your application?
@snailszy
Thanks. I sent my application in after the holidays since I figured they wouldn't take a look at it until they were over anyway. Probably around Jan 5 or so. They sent me a confirmation on Jan 22 though.
