d-day is finally over for this program. time to wait..

i found out today that their number of students accepted into this program has been reduced from 68 to 36.

Someone I know went to the info session on Tuesday and told me a bunch of bad news....

She said due to the state being broke they are cutting the positions in half from accepting 68 to 36! Also they said that the only interviews they have planned are the ones that happened today...there were 2 people in the session who applied and haven't heard anything and they told them they MIGHT have more interviews, but it depends on how the ones today went...

I really don't get....I was MORE than qualified to AT LEAST get an interview! My gpa is great, my letters were great and my statement was good. This is so frustrating, I have worked my butt off for the last two years!!! Also how could they cut the number of acceptee's in half and not ever tell us? I mean 68 is a lot more hopeful than 36!:(

Yes, enrollment is cut from 68 to 36! What a bummer.

They said 400 people (or 300 people? I forgot) applied.

I was one of 72 finalists selected for an interview, but I did such a thoroughly awful job that I could write it off even before leaving.

Mnguy, were you in the afternoon session? There were only 4 guys if I remember correctly. In my group interview, there was this one guy.

I was the only person not to major in health sciences in my group. I can only imagine how awkward it must be to be in such minority. I hope you get in.

Yeah, the afternoon group. I had two males and was one of the two girls in my group that did not have a science background. I thought it was weird how they mentioned that research shows applicants with a science background tend to finish the program versus other applicants who studied another field. JUST GREAT!.. that was nice to hear.. Who did you have your interview with? I had mine with Mrs. Ringles... she was the lady in the red vest and she was talking about being a nurse executive and having a chance to come to downtown la for an interview.

She seemed really nice.

My interviewer was the last professor to speak, who said that she was very tough. The moment that she mentioned that, I knew I was in her group since that's the kind of luck I have. She was actually very nice, but I suppose she does not give easy points.

Is this news also for people who will be applying IN the fall? I am thinking of applying for Fall 2010....I wonder if they will accept more people...Has anyone been accepted yet, for this fall? If so, what did your resume look like (ie undergrad gpa, prereq gpa, etc....) THANKS!
