I know from an internal source that they got approved to hire 100 ICU and NICU nurses...I think you interview to get on a general list then get re-interviewed when someone (a facility) picks you off that list? That is my understanding.

It has to do with your date of birthday...not really sure but something about if you take the test after your birthday it is valid for longer...maybe someone else can explain it better but I know for sure it has to do with your birthday. Hope that helps...

It sounds like its an initial interview, don't know if its for a specific unit but my top choice was ED, then Peds. I didn't ask too many questions because I was so nervous but he just told me what time to be there at.

FYI I got a call today from Fountain Valley about coming in next week for an interview! Not getting my hopes up....LOL. Good luck to everyone!

1. If you live in Orange County and have over a 3.0 high school gpa and good SAT scores you will probably get into the actual school. 2. It is extremely hard to get into their BSN program. Look on their website and it outlines everything for you. You may want to start volunteering at a hospital to see if you like it and it will get you points when you apply. 3. You would be a EL-BSN that is for new students like yourself coming from high school that want to get their BSN. It is a fairly new program for them. The also have a EL-MSN which is for people who have a Bachelor's degree in a non nursing area. 4. Yes, there school is very good! Good luck and hope that helps!

It just happens that the hospital I want to work at has magnet status...I worked in their ED before nursing school and loved it! All the nurses there are very happy....I am in no means being picky about magnet status, I will take what I can get in this economy, just wanted to know if that hospital would even accept my ADN due to their "magnet status". :)

I'm going to be graduating in May and my dream hospital to work at is a magnet hospital. I was wondering a if magnet hospital accepts a rn (adn) with a bachelors in another field (mine is in public health). I know that they want BSN's and tried to do some research and couldn't find anything. Thanks!

Ya, definitely no gangs! I live in Yorba Linda, which is a city over and its middle to upper class and very safe. St Jude just built a new building which is beautiful and all the people I know who work there love it! Hope this helps...good luck!

i'm starting this semester too! my friend is about to start her last semester and her classmates and her love it! i haven't really heard anything bad from her and trust me i make her tell me everything! i think a lot has to do with the student and their attitude. i also worked at one of the best hospital in oc and talked to many nurses who recently graduated from gw. they told me when they got their new grad job in the ed that the recruiter flat out told them there are only certain schools they hire new grads from and that gw was one of them! they did tell me that the program was challenging (duh!) and that the professors were really good but pushed you! i wouldn't believe everything you read beacuse everyone has different experiences.

I actually volunteered at CHOC as a nursing volunteer....I went through the whole process which took forever and was super excited to be a "nursing volunteer". After all the interviews and general volunteer orientation we had a specific nursing assistant volunteer orientation that lasted 8 hours. They talked about everything we would be doing like feeding babies, changing diapers, etc. The week after that, I started and it was the exact opposite! The nurses pretty much just ignore you. I asked all the nurses if I could help them with something and I even asked the charge nurse what I should be doing and they said there was nothing to be done, which of course in the orientation they said there is always something to be done. I talked to some other people who I did the nursing volunteer orientation with and they all had similar experiences. It was a disapointting experience and I tried to let the volunteer office know and ask if I could be moved to another area and they wouldn't let me. I too want to work at CHOC so I asked the head of the nursing volunteers if volunteering at CHOC gets your foot in the door and she said they don't really look at that. She suggested working as a CNA there would be a better way. They start you out on the Med-Surg floors. Once you have a certain amount of hours you can go to the PICU or NICU. Thanks so much! Congrats to you too! I'm so nervous for the test! Were you allowed to use a calculator? Was your score super high? My friend who is in the program said that as long as we pass the test we are in and that your letter would tell you if you were an alternate! I'm still not getting my hopes up until I have that acceptance letter in my hand! Thanks for all the info!

That happened to me last semester and they told me to call the impacted students desk. For some reason my rejection came late :-( I actually got a call from them today, I guess when I RSVPed the lady never wrote my name down so they called to make sure I got the letter and am going on the 8th. I would call them tomorrow.
