CSUDH Entry MEPN Program - Fall 2010 Applicants

Published

i've been following a few threads and i love the excitement and anticipation of those waiting for acceptance letters/phone calls to a particular program and the camaraderie that it creates. i would love to get a thread going to show support and updates for those of us who have/are applying to cal state dominguez hills mepn program for fall 2010. i submitted my portfolio and application on november 30th. i was told that i should expect an interview in january. this is the only program i'm applying to. i know some may say that isn't smart, but i've done alot of research and it is the best/only one that meets all of my needs: prereqs, location, program duration, nclex pass rate and cost. being 30 and already having an expensive master's from usc in a field that i have decided to walk away from in order to follow my heart, i know that this program is the one for me. so i'm stepping out on faith and claiming my spot in the fall 2010 cohort. in my workshop, they said that they only expect to accept 35-40 students for fall. would love for others to share their experience with applying to this program and hopefully many of us will start this journey together are csudh in the fall! good luck to everyone!

mya

Have you applied for the Fall 2010 cohort or is this for next year?

Hey May'

For International students the application due date is different and also sometimes they get interview on the phone only..You can not compare my application status to yours because you are probably not an International student. They take internationals only if they don't have enough local candidates or if the institution you working for is sending you to school because they need you for this CNL position. I hope you get in .GL

Hey you guys,

I've seriously been so antsy this past week. JE also told me we should hear back by the first week of may..but I still have yet to receive anything. I don't know what to think. So I'm assuming others are still waiting too?

you are correct. That is what i was told, but i still haven't recieved anything. I am very tempted to call him on Monday.

Killar--if you do call and end up reaching him, can you please let me know? Thanks.

Sure. IF anyone else hears anything, i want to know too =P

Gotcha. Well if you do get a phone interview, no need to worry about that writing sample that you were stressing over (and somewhat stressing us about). Oh, and I wasn't comparing my application status to yours, I was just curious to see if they were still doing interviews this far out. But yes, I did get in - I received my acceptance letter the end of February and I submitted my intent to attend form last month, so now it's just the waiting game for more information on orientation days, uniforms, etc.

Good luck with everything, and again, I'm sure you will do fine if you should have to write the essay.

For those of you waiting to hear back from JE - don't worry if it's after the time he told you he would respond. He did the same for those of us who heard earlier in the spring. I think he just has a lot of responsibilities, especially with the budget cut-backs and everything. I heard that CSUDH is having finals this week so maybe after his current class ends you will hear. Good luck and let us know what happens!:yeah:

When I read this, it gave me some hope!

But.....I did end up emailing JE and he replied saying that they have already made their initial decisions and those letters were sent out. Now they're trying to compile a wait list and will be notifying those applicants soon, I guess. He also wrote that this year was more competitive than last year. My heart dropped when I read this. If by some miraculous event I do get in, I will seriously dance for joy! But as of now, I don't know what to think anymore. :crying2:

So for those that got accepted, they should already receive a letter? I am =(

Hello All,

I haven’t received a letter either. Such a disappointment after months of anticipation but hopefully everyone has a back-up plan. I have gotten accepted in an Accelerated BSN program at Concordia University in Irvine. If anyone is interested in applying to the Spring 2011 semester applications are due on June 1 so hurry up and get your packets together. It shouldn’t be hard since I know all of you have turned in a portfolio.

This program is a great alternative because it is only 12 months long and might even give you the opportunity of pursuing your MSN in a concentration other than Nurse Leadership. The down side is that the program cost around $32,000 which is a hefty price to pay but you will have your BSN in a year so you should start earning money sooner than in a MSN program.

To everyone that has already been accepted into the MEPN program thank you for the encouragement and support these past months. I hope we meet in the future in a hospital, clinic, or maybe in a classroom. Good luck to everyone in your programs!

Hi Carolyn!

Thanks for the info about CUI. So did you apply and get accepted for this Fall or Spring 2011? Actually I do have a few questions about the program...and I can't PM either. Can you email me? ([email protected]) Thanks..
