Why are you wasting your money on Nursing as a major? Why would anyone want to do that to themselves.? 6 months after graduation the tuition bills roll in and no job to pay them with, then you default, cant get a car, a home, etc for Years.

Not very supportive. Yes jobs are hard to come by now but this goes in cycles. I've been a nurse long enough to see some of these cycles. Also not everyone has tuition bills when they get out of school.
OP good luck on your application

Hi, I am! It is one of 4 CSU campuses I am applying to for this fall. I just sent off my transcripts to the university and tomorrow I will finish up the actual nursing application. When is it due - Jan 31?
Hi! Yes it is due by Jan 31. What schools are you applying to?

GOOD LUCK TO YOU BOTH! My ex sister-in-law went to csu stan and has a great nursing job now at a local hospital making $40+ per hour :)
Thanks!
Sorry for the late reply, Laura- I did reply days ago but apparently it didn't stick! Besides CSU Stan, I'm applying to Sac State, CSU Channel Islands, and CSU San Marcos ABSN program. These are all for fall 2011. Also re-applying to a couple of community colleges in my area but they are lottery based with a 1100+ applicants for approximately 40-60 spots. If I don't get in anywhere for fall, I'm going to submit an application for Samuel Merritt University for spring and re-apply everywhere all over again! Are you applying anywhere else?
Mxmstiza- I am sure you will get in somewhere! I only applied to Stan so I am really hoping I get in! If u are bilingual and have good grades and have medical experience I am sure you will get in at stan. Are you from the valley?
Yes and I'm hoping to stay here. :) I don't really have medical experience except for a CNA license. If I remember correctly I think I wrote that down on my application but I'm not sure if it counts for anything. We'll see what happens. Keep me posted if you hear anything!

I'm currently a CSU Stan nursing student. I'm in my 4th semester now. A health-related job counts! it's 5 points! :) Good luck guys!

You can say the same thing to accounting majors, english majors, engineering majors, biology majors. It's not just nursing grads that are having a hard time finding employment, it is across the board. No major is exempt. My bestfriend's boyfriend graduated from UCLA with a mechanical engineering degree in june 2009, he is still unemployed. It's this messed up economy. Good luck OP, you will get in!
