CSN Spring 2016

Published

I know it's incredibly early, there's not even a board for Fall 2015 and their applications are due in 2 months, but I can't wait.

Is there anyone else here planning on applying for the Spring 2016 program?

I'm taking Biology 223 and 251 this semester. I'm also taking my TEAS on the 17th so I have time to take it more than once if need be. I figure I'll have 31 or 32 points. Everything except Biology 224 (which I'll be taking during the fall 15 semester) and previous medical experience, since massage therapy doesn't count.

I'm just curious if any of my potential future classmates are here already, reading up on things like I am.

What is the title of the dimensional analysis workbook? I want to get a head start on that too.

I did not get the actual book the class is taught off of, but it's like $10 at the bookstore. I just got a cheap one from Amazon so I could go through it and learn a little before the toolbox course. The book I got is called The Nurse, The Math, The Meds. It was $4.00, including shipping. Just a little pre-learning. I like pre-learning

Yeah, it sounds like you and I are going to run into each other quite a bit. Maybe next time we'll have to communicate LOL

I have to try to figure out when I attended the health program orientation. It was so long ago I didn't make note of the day. I think I'm going to the application workshop on June 9th, it's at 4 PM.

At this current moment in time I am watching a horrible movie called Route 666 wondering when Lou Diamond Philips started making such bad movies. Such a handsome man, it's a tragedy.

BUMPING! I hope everyone is doing good.

Hello WellThatsOod, I was just wondering what you thought about taking bio 223 and 251 at the same time because that is what I am planning to do next semester. Is it pretty manageable or would you recommend taking them separately?

It's manageable. I can't imagine taking another class along with those 2, but 223 and 251 together is okay. It's tough, I didn't have much free time. It's a lot of information and a lot of memorizing. I recommend a study buddy or group, but make sure it's someone who cares, not someone who wants to mooch off of you!

And record! For the love of Pete, record the lectures, make sure you mark down the date on your notes so if you need to go back to listen you have an idea of what recording it is.

Oh yea definitely, I'm taking BIO 189 right now and I don't think I'd be doing as nearly as good as I am without recording. It's a huge help for sure. I have another question if you don't mind...from all the bio classes you've taken so far which ones do you think are the hardest? I'm a bit scared now that I'm in BIO 189. BIO is definitely not that easy of a subject, at least not for me.

189 was a doozy because I hadn't had a biology class for 11+ years. Plus it covers SO MUCH. I did it last summer like you're doing now.

Micro honestly wasn't too hard. It's not easy of course, but it's easier than anatomy. So far, for me, A&P 1 has been the hardest. I passed with a B. Not great but I stayed in the 6 point range for GPA. Hourly some of the others will chime in. ------------------- is doing A&P 2 over at Nevada state this summer. I'm sure he's rather busy lol.

I don't mind answering questions, ask away.

I agree. A and P 1 was the most difficult. Once you understand 223, 224 isn't as difficult. But it still is more difficult than 189 or 251. From easiest to hardest:

251 micro- the most fun.

189 bio- hard, cause I hadn't been in school for 13+ years

224 AP2- hard, but easier to understand because of 223

223 AP1- that one sucked. STUDY!!!

I begin Nursing 101 this fall. This will probably be a whole new world of hurt, as far as difficulty goes. I'll try and remember to update everyone as I go.

Good luck with all your Bio classes.

Thanks Justin!

Thanks you guys so much for answering my questions!

Hello all, I just got done taking 224 at Nevada State College last week. Just waiting for my grade to post so that I can transfer it to CSN. I am currently taking Math 120 online (retaking it to replace a C I have in Math 124) and then I have to study for the TEAS exam because I have yet to take it and I am taking it in August. Then I have to meet with an adviser to go over the application. Well there goes my summer. How is everyone else's summer going?

If you think that's bad, just wait until you get accepted.
