CSN Spring 2016

U.S.A. Nevada

I know it's incredibly early, there's not even a board for Fall 2015 and their applications are due in 2 months, but I can't wait.

Is there anyone else here planning on applying for the Spring 2016 program?

I'm taking Biology 223 and 251 this semester. I'm also taking my TEAS on the 17th so I have time to take it more than once if need be. I figure I'll have 31 or 32 points. Everything except Biology 224 (which I'll be taking during the fall 15 semester) and previous medical experience, since massage therapy doesn't count.

I'm just curious if any of my potential future classmates are here already, reading up on things like I am.

Looks like the new/updated Program Detail Sheets are up. September 1st deadline for Spring 2016. I still haven't taken my TEAS. I'm scared of taking it. Lol

It really wasn't horrible. I think it will be easier since you have taken 223 now. I got an 84.7% and have been thinking of taking it again to see if I get a better score.

I met with an advisor today and we went over my points and my classes and stuff.

If I keep my B in Anatomy I will have 30 points when we apply and I was basically told to go ahead and get started on my immunizations over the summer.

I'm going to do my application and go see her again around the middle of August to go over my application packet before I turn it in as she suggested.

For the record, I find it amusing that we have never spoken in person even though we share a class :shy:

Good luck on your finals!

I need to go see an advisor too. I am taking my TEAS next Saturday, hopefully I pass on the first try. I am taking 224 over the summer at NSC. I could use the extra 10 points.

Oh, man I knew that would come up eventually. LOL Meeting new people and being the one to start conversations doesn't come easy to me. I must admit at I am a bit shy and timid at first.

On another note, I find it odd that we are the only 2 on this forum/discussion. Maybe as we get closer to the deadline it becomes more active?

To prospective Spring 2016 nursing students, come on in and join the conversation. I promise we don't bite:nailbiting:

Hello everyone! Spring 2016 nursing student hopeful here☺ i just need to pass my teas. Im taking esl198b reading part of the teas in the summer to help me prepare for it. So far, i have 37 points.

I know what you mean. I have a hard time walking up and starting conversations with people too. I guess that's a skill we're going to have to build up!

I'm taking statistics over the summer. After we graduate from CSN I'm doing the bridge program at NSC. I was thinking about doing 224 there over the summer like you but I don't want to rush through it. It's hard enough for me to understand it in 16 weeks. Plus I'd have to transfer the class to CSN, then back to NSC...

I hope more people join us soon. I'm looking forward to meeting more people.

Good luck on your TEAS! When are you going to the application workshop?

hey future classmates :D

I just wanted to say hello to all of you! All I need left is to take the teas exam. I'm planning on taking it in August, after summer term. Are there any tips you can share about the teas? I took biol 224 this spring semester and several girls were saying they had to retake it at least twice. I'm kind of nervous. If I don't pass I'll have to wait to apply for Fall of 2016.. and that's so far out there lol. I did buy the 5 practice test on amazon but haven't opened the book yet.

Also, are any of you planning on taking the toolbox class this summer? I read previous posts from earlier nursing students saying toolbox was really helpful, especially if you aren't that great in math.

They have it in the winter between fall and spring semesters, that when I plan on taking it. I did order a dimensional analysis workbook off of Amazon to get a head start.

You should know tomorrow if you passed 224. If not you can still apply for Spring 2016 and take it again during the fall. It's not required to apply to the program like 223 is.

might I just add, make sure you study for the English part of the TEAS. I hardly did and got a 76.7 in that section

I was one of those girls! I passed my teas on my 3rd try.. what got me the 1st and 2nd time was the reading portion, I ran out of time each test :( . When taking the practice exams make sure that you understand why you got a question wrong or right.. Time yourself when taking the practice exams.. Don't spend too much time on 1 question. I would read CNN articles (news articles or books) to practice on my reading pace and just make sure I was understood what I Just read ( I'm one of those people that space out and end up reading same paragraph like 5 times) Really study the ATI book and make sure you understand all of the content.. I also bought the McGraw Hill, I felt that one helped me a lot with the English, math & reading portions. If you don't pass it at least you will understand where your weaknesses were and really study those. Don't stress out too much.. I actually passed the exam 2 weeks post partum.. I didn't think I would pass it because I had a very tiring pregnancy and just skimmed through the book. The day of the test I felt no pressure and treated the test as a practice run since I had already paid I figured I should take it. .. Not trying to encourage you to not study lol but what I'm saying is don't stress out too much because you will psych yourself out. Goodluck!

Oh I must have been confused! I thought you were talking about having to take 224 twice. Sorry. :sorry:

No way!! I am doing the bridge program at NSC after CSN as well. I have about 4 requirements left to do for the NSC bridge program and plan on getting them done this fall and summer of next year. That way when I finish CSN nursing program, all the prerequisites for NSC will be done and I won't have to worry about them. We will definitely be crossing paths in the next couple of years.

I went to the application workshop back in February but it think I will go again just as a refresher and to make sure I don't miss any important information. I decided to wait until August to take my TEAS exam that way I have more than enough time to study, especially because I'm taking 224 at NSC right now and it very time consuming. The downside to that is that I only have 1 shot at getting a passing score.

Hi there, I have not taken the TEAS yet and I am in the same situation as you. I only have 1 shot and if I don't pass, I'll have to wait until the next deadline to apply.

I am definitely going to take the toolbox class. I thinks its going to be very helpful.

If your interested I have links/documents to a few TEAS Exam study materials.

What is the title of the dimensional analysis workbook? I want to get a head start on that too.
