Is anyone applying for Spring 2015 Nursing Program 2015? I applied for Fall 2014 with 37 points and will be applying for Spring 2015 with 38 points. Does anyone have pointers for the application process? Has anyone gone to the limited entry workshop? I have been discouraged, and need some uplifting information.

I can't take the class. it's hours don't work out for my family such short notice. hopefully it can still be beneficial if I take it during the summer.

Is anyone going to take the toolbox class.. nurs 285?

Thank you for letting me/us know that this class was available for registration now. I had read about this class, but didn't even think to check on it-thought we would have to wait till after orientation.

Now that I am REALLY interested in it, can anyone give me more details on what is covered?

That's definitely a @Christina731 question lol

i enrolled in it yesterday,a few students ahead of us going in said it was very helpful!

Are we allowed to enroll in 101 and 125 before the 14th? Anyone know.

They said not until orientation, we get packets kinda like a lottery and what ever times are in your packet is the times and when you can reg. you get to choose from.

Toolbox was the best class that I have taken in nursing school. The instructor is the best and she teaches you the dosage calc math that you need to pass the tests each semester. If you fail these tests >95%, you must withdraw. She also teaches how to write proper care plans which is very important for clinical. She will also allow you to sit in on future lectures for refresh once you have completed the course. I rearranged my life to take this class before I started first semester and if I didn't I probably wouldn't be graduating in December.

You have to wait until after orientation to register. You will get all the info then. You won't be registering for classes on your mycsn assigned time as long as you're a nursing student :)

Do they not spend enough time on these items during first semester in order to grasp them properly? Is that why we should take this course also?

Specializes in Public Health.

It gives you the guided practice you need to make sure you know your stuff. Remember you get to miss one question, if you miss more than one question you fail the test and you get one retest and then you're dismissed from the program. Take the class so you can be confident.

Unfortunately they do not go over them to the extent that the toolbox class does. The instructor who teaches it has been trying to make it a requirement but she has been shut down by the head honchos. You will spend about an hour in ACE (alternative clinical experience - similar to lab) where they go over one math assignment with 10 problems. Toolbox will give you practice with hundreds of problems. You get one lecture about care plans and there is so much info that it will make your head spin. Toolbox spends a whole week on care plans and you actually write several in the class. 101 lecture only tests you on portions of care plans and the nursing process but you don't actually write them (unless they changed it). Believe me when I say it's SO worth the time and money.

From what I was told it is best to take it. Some people have to withdraw because of dosage calculations.
