Hi all, i have seen alot of people wearing these shoes at the hospital. I am interested in the highland (no vent holes) or the metro (vents along the bottom). are the vents neccessary?? will my feet get hot wearing them? let me know please. also maybe hints wear to purchase. thanks
I found out about Crocs here on this site and went out and got me a 2 pair. I normally wear a 9.5, usually wide too. I got the Highland's in a large so they will fit my foot good and it won't slide around in them. I also got a pair of the Beach in an xl so I'll have more room in them. LOVE the shoes, so comfortable. After wearing them for a couple of days I went online and ordered a pair of the Nile's in sage. I just looked at the website and noticed they have change it up and added new things like knee pads, too cute. I'll also be getting a pair of those new Athens, they look really comfortable too. I noticed they have changed their colors on some models. I want the light pink and purple ones too, love those colors. Good luck, I found a dealer in a nearby town for mine and the sandals are on the way, should be here by Friday. Did you search by your state or zip code for a place to buy them? I traveled 45 mins. for mine. Mainly because I wanted to try them on before I bought them online.
You can find them under the names of Holey Soles, Waldies or Airwalk.
They sell the Airwalks at Payless Shoe Store. I thought about buying a pair to try because of how cheap they were, but the last time I went cheap (a pair of Dr. Scholl's from WallyWorld), it was horrible. My feet lasted about an hour and I was in pain. I love my Danskos so much....but maybe I'll head over there tomorrow and pick up a pair. I believe they are well under $30 at Payless (maybe even under $20) so all will not be lost if they are horrible.... :chuckle

got mine about 2 months ago - started working back on the floor as a staff nurse after not doing it for 5 years (desk jobs and the like) - brought my old Birkenstocks just in case 'cuz I get plantar fasciitis real easy - love them love them love them love them - I can't believe how comfortable they are - my feet and legs are not tired/achy/burning at all and we run like crazy in our ICU!! I got mine off a website called Shoe Pavilion - they didn't charge S & H so I paid exactly 29.99 - I'm gonna git me some for fun now!!!! :)
for that site...shoepavillion.com that sells the croc shoes for $29.99...mind you though...it's the "beach" model with all the holes on-top of & sides...might not be practical for hospital nsg...like the "metro" model. i can't even imagine having blood, urine, poo, etc....fall onto the tops of those shoes...the ones with the wholes that is........eeewwwwwwwwwwww....lol :rotfl:!
cheers,

A couple of questions for those who have tried the Crocs:
My only complaint about the crocs was that I couldn't find a proper fit. The smalls crunched my big toe and the mediums were too big. I just checked out the sizing guide from a few posts up and it says that they are SUPPOSED to be too big.
So my questions are
1 - How do you not walk out of them?
2 - Usually shoes that are loose like this (some sandals for example) aggravate shin splints because your leg muscles have to continually strain to keep the shoes on as you walk. Have any of you experienced problems like this (particularly those of you who may have had problems with shin splints prior to trying them)?

Mine are big. I have not had any problems with shin splints. I have had it when I got sandals that don't fit so I do know what your talking about. The problem I do have is if I don't put powder in my shoes, my socks get twisted around.

I got mine at a Birkenstock's store. BEfore I found those, I was going to drive to the beach and get some there. I was SO excited to find them. I wore them to an amusement park to break them in, and it was great after I rode water rides. I think I got the metro (vent holes in bottom). -Andrea
