Crocs Nursing shoes

Hi all, i have seen alot of people wearing these shoes at the hospital. I am interested in the highland (no vent holes) or the metro (vents along the bottom). are the vents neccessary?? will my feet get hot wearing them? let me know please. also maybe hints wear to purchase. thanks

I got mine at Summit Hut for $25! Love em! I have white and black. When I wear the white at clinicals I wear the sling back around my heels.

The shoes have a strap that goes across the back of your heel, which holds the shoes on. I've never felt like I had to hold on to them with my feet. I know you can turn the strap around if you want, so they are more like sandals, but I always wear them with the strap facing backwards, because I tend to get foot problems when wearing shoes (like clogs) or sandals that don't stay on my feet too well.

I realize that they have a strap, but when I tried it on my foot was scooting around in the thing like crazy, to the point that it felt like I might walk out of the shoe. The next size down fit tighter than a glove (more like a vice). Just seems that there would be a little in-between the two extremes. Then, the sizing guide basically says that the thing is supposed to be huge. I was just wondering if it is something you get used to or if they should pretty much be comfortable from the start?

I think it depends on the style- I picked out one style (don't know the name) which came in S, M, L, etc. I had the same problem, with L being too small but XL was too big. I exchanged them for a more expensive style (sorry- I can't remember the style name!) which came in actual sizes (women's 8,9,10, etc.) and I got a much better fit. I usually take a size 8 but a size 9 fits great. I hope this helps!

Hmmm...good to know that their sizes are variable. There may still be hope! The kind I tried on was the one with all the holes, which would never fly in an ICU. I was thinking of getting the one that is totally enclosed. I would actually like to get the one with just the air vents and no holes in the top, but I don't know if my feet would be protected well enough. There is lots of stuff that can fall on your feet or things that you can run into in our busy unit. The shoe I tried felt so good, I would liked to have been able to wear it but I would have to stand in one place all night to keep it on. :chuckle

I'll have to see if I can try one of the other styles. :)

How are Crocs on wet hospital floors? I work in a clinic that has water on the floor in certain areas each day.

I do not have Crocs but the shoes I do wear are very comfortable.... but I have slipped and fallen on wet floors twice.

I got the navy Highland which is without all the holes and love it. I wear it with socks and have no trouble at all. These are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I even went walking tonight in my beach models. They are more comfortable than my New Balance's. :D

I just bought highlands and they arrived today. I am wearing them now, they (so far) are the most comfortable shoes I own. I bought them at http://www.nofeargear.com for 40.90. They shipped very fast and so far I am happy with them, we will see how they hold up.

They are great on wet surfaces- they were designed originally as boat shoes, and they don't slip around whether the floors are wet or dry.
