World Canada CRNE

Published

Hi guys!

To all of you who took the CRNE last February 5, 2014, do you have any idea how many weeks should we wait for the results?

what could be the passing score? The exam was not an ordinary exam. I mean most of the cases are new (not the common dx of arf, crf, copd,mi etc). Also, the situations are not like for new Rn graduate.. I think you should have experience working in a hospital setting or special units because some of the questions are more of the routines in a hospital..not for nursing knowledge, anyways, good luck to all of us! In God, we trust!

In alberta CARNA's website has mycpp which stands for my continuing practice profile, we have to fill it out once we get our results from the CRNE I believe. Then we can practice as an RN? I think, not sure how Ontario does it

It's actually MyCCP which stands for MY CONTINUING COMPETENCE PROGRAM. It's part of the process CARNA has developed to meet the requirements of the Health Professions Act which states that all health professionals must undertake a program through which they maintain their competence to practice and to enhance the provision of care. Each province with a Health Professions Act will have a continuing competence program and the administration of them will vary. When you get your CARNA registration package there will be information on how it works in Alberta. Basically, when you apply for registration you choose 1 or more practice indicators on which to work over the ensuing professional year. You then develop a learning plan to meet this educational goal. As you complete your learning activities you document them using MyCCP. At the end of the practice year, when you prepare to renew your registration you'll complete the remainder of the practice year's documentation which includes an evaluation of your learning and submit it as part of the renewal process. Then you'll go on to select your new indicator(s) for the coming year. Lather, rinse and repeat. An example of a practice indicator: [TABLE]

You're correct, at the moment the CRNE is only written in Canada. So kinmont123 would have had to fly over to write and then fly back to Scotland.

I'm from BC and have not received the CRNE results yet. This marks the 5th week of our waiting period and I hope to see a "Congratulations" in the mail soon!!

hi there! Im also from BC. Do you know if we also have mycpp? and how could we check it? Hope to hear from you. Thank you.

Also, the CRNBC website says "about 6-8 weeks", not 4-6 weeks for your results. I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear. And, I did call them and they said they update after they mail out our results but I would keep checking online because she didn't seem so sure of her answer. Soooo hard to be patient for something so important!!!

hi there.. oh so they do update after mailing out our results? Can you please update us once you've noticed any changes in your crnbc account. I am so nervous. I saw this from CRNBC fb page, College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia "Good morning. The results of the Feb 2014 examination will be sent by mail by March 17, 2014 at the latest."

- so they might send it either end of next week or Monday at the latest?

I also tried to call the CRNBC last Tuesday, and they informed me that the mails were not yet received from the CNA. Maybe they received it either on Thursday or Friday. They also informed me that it will take them about a week to prepare the letters and encode the files. So maybe, they will really mail it out on March 17, 2014? We have 2 venues in BC. Please just update us if there's any changes in your mycrnbc account. Thank you. God bless.

Hi, MJBK! I believe CRNBC's CCP is known as the Quality Assurance Profile (https://crnbc.ca/QA/RN/profile/Pages/Default.aspx). You sign in using your email address, as most registrants are able to access at this point, but how reliable is it to know if I actually passed CRNE? That I cannot answer. Let me know if you have any further details regarding this tip!

hi what should we see there? I did not answer any self-assessment or QA yet. Can you please tell me what you are seeing on your QA? thank you.

As others have mentioned, there should be a list of professional development plan on your profile. However, this list is only be available once you are a practising nurse with CRNBC, and there is no list on my account at the moment.

hi there..no list on my account yet. The last time I called them (last Tuesday), they said that they have not received the package yet of our results. Then, they updated the crnbc fb page yesterday that they are going to mail the results on March 17 at least the latest. They also informed me via phone that it will took them few days to prepare the letters..so yeah maybe the last day of their calendar to finish it all is on March 17..please let us update here any details we can gather. Thank you.

Hi everyone, I am an IEN living and working in Scotland, UK, after my initial application I flew over to do my 3 day assessment, the results of that was that I had to a Health Assessment course and a clinical placement/module in maternal child health, I then did these by taking unpaid leave(s) from my job here, to fly to Halifax NS, attend the RNPDC, complete the HA course and do my clinical placement. I did the maternal module online but obviously had to complete my clinical placement in NS.

Like many IENS (Canadian nurses too) its tough, going backwards & forwards, flights, accommodation etc is not cheap, but its a choice I have made and I have worked incredibly hard to get to this point. I'm a single mum with financial commitments here in the UK, so for me it was not financially feasible to up sticks and go to NS for a few months to complete my requirements and sit the CRNE, so my choice has been to go backwards & forwards and this has allowed me time to save money to complete things.

I applied for my PR status through the PNP (after speaking to prospective employers who basically told me TWP wasn't feasible and it was easier for employers if you have PR status), I'm now waiting for that to come through & hopefully I will be living & working in NS in the next 12 months or so. I therefore do not have a job yet but I will now be able to go and register with CRNNS which should help when I do apply for jobs.

I'm sure I'm not the only person who sat in NS who has results, I think there was about 36 people who sat the exam (I did'nt sit and count everyone), so I'm sure if I have my results they do to, so I'm afraid I cant answer why living in Scotland I have my results so quick I'm afraid Janfrm you may want to contact CRNNS and take that point up with them directly.

I received a rectangular print out that has your candidate number, name of school, your name and address and on the right hand side it states "results" under this mine says "Pass". I also received a a four page letter that says Dear ..... Congratulations on passing the February 5, 2014 writing of the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination. It then goes on to explain how to register/licence with the CRNNS.

I only posted yesterday to let everyone know that the NS results are out, reading previous posts it seems that once the NS results are out the other provinces follow very quickly. Good luck to everyone and thank you to those of you who were kind enough to congratulate me.

Things job wise are pretty rough at the moment in NS and seeing less and less jobs advertised which are open externally as most tend to be internal applicants and due to using seniority here the jobs tend to get offered first to the one with the most seniority. Not sure where in NS you are looking or what experience you have but if wanting just hospitals you may find it very hard to get foot through the door. Look at and consider LTC as a means to getting started and look then for casual work in hospital

Anyway congrats on passing from another IEN who passed first time but I think the courses from RNPDC helped in my prospective on passing first time as the coursework and questions was similar to CRNE

Hi Silverdragon, thanks for your congratulations, I found the exam tough, but boy I studied ! I sent the RNPDC a huge thank you email, without them I'm sure I would'nt have got through the process, they are incredibly nice and helpful and I agree I think the coursework from them was invaluable, I also attended one of their CRNE prep days which was fab in giving me an idea of what to actually expect.

I know, each time I've been over I've went to various facilities to test the waters and have been told most jobs are either casual (no good for work permit!) or internal applicants, thats why I thought easier to get my registration and PR status sorted, then if need be I can take a part time post or casual, as long as I can get some hours doing something, cant live without any money lol !

I have had good responses from some LTC homes in the Valley (which is where I want to settle) and also from VON, so I'm hopeful that when I get PR I will get a job doing something, I dont mind where I work or what I do, so long as I can support myself and little girl. At present I work in Acquired Brain Injuries here in the UK, TPN's, Trachy's, challenging behaviour, etc etc. But as I say I dont mind where I work :)

I've been going backwards and forwards to NS since 2007 on holidays and just fell in love with the Valley and the people, I've made some fantastic friends over the years and I think its a great place to raise children and of course the weather is a bit better than the UK lol !

How do you find working in NS ? I really enjoyed my clinical placement there and it gave me a good introduction into the Canadian Healthcare system.
