when i had a unbelievably squeaky pair of shoes years ago, an older nurse told me to heavily baby powder them, inside and out, and leave them like that overnight. you then shake all the powder into the sink or tub, wipe them and polish them. wonder whether that might work on black shoes too? hmmm ...

Alright, I love my new oiled black Danskos, but seriously miss the silent patter of my so-unsupporting Crocs!Anyone have a trick for making those inky, slinky soles a little quieter for the night treading nurse?

Hello Tait ! Unfortunately I can't help you with the squeak , but this short clog story might give you a laugh : about two years ago I bought a pair of suede clogs . I was walking to my car when I heard a kitten crying - meow.....meoww . Looked under the car and no kitten so I went to dinner. When I got home the little kitty was back ....meoww, meow. I got a flashlight and went to find it but it did not cry whenever I stopped to look. As I walked back to my door the kitty was following me ....meow . Thats when I realized it was my left clog squeaking !!!!! Meow : ) Good Luck !!!!!
My danskos squeak when I am in the new part of the hospital - in the older part which is mostly the medical school and administrative offices they don't squeak as much. I finally figured that in the patient areas the floors are cleaned and waxed much more frequently than the other part. I think it has everything to do with the super clean floors because my danskos never squeak at home!!
I just wear surgical shoe covers over them every day. It keeps my shoes clean, prevents me from hitting the floor, and dulls any sound. Most units have em.
But my shoes are so awesome looking! I guess I choose vanity over sneakiness?
lol
Thanks for the responses, I bet it has to do with the wax on the floor.
