Crazy Organization Lately Anyone?

Published

I don't know if this is just me - but I've been in hyper overdrive cleaning/throwing away/needing a place for everything and for everything to be functional mode lately. This week has been the worst. Orientation is Thursday and school starts the following Monday I believe - so I feel like if my house isn't spotless and a good schedule is in place, it'll be in total shambles.

It's just me and my husband and our dogs - but I'm the type that can't relax when there is clutter everywhere and everything is a mess. I'm terrified that once I'm busy with school and homework that will occupy a lot of my time, if my house and myself aren't organized like crazy - everything will fall apart.

I know I won't want to spend my weekends cleaning all day, so I'm trying to get it all totally cleaned up and organized now so cleanup is easy.

Has anyone else been doing this? Or am I the only oddball out there, lol?

:o We got rid of our old VHS tapes which were stored in a bookshelf type setting, with two shelves... So I decided to show case my yarn in there (so I don't have to go digging through bins..) But I still have three more bins to sort... heh. Glad to see a fellow knitter on here!

Hmm... Now I want to make pancakes! I wonder if blueberry/fruit pancakes would still taste good after a good defrost in the microwave.. I am planning on making granola/yogurt and fruit for breakfast on most days. I know theres a thread for freezing 30 days of meals, but what about breakfast foods?? :lol2:

You DO know about Ravelry, right? Please tell me you know about Ravelry!

I've stuck pancakes in the freezer and they reheat in the microwave just fine. Wrap them in foil in individual servings, then in plastic. I microwave them on medium heat until heated through.

I made raspberry and banana-chocolate chip pancakes and they do just fine. I sprinkle them with a wee bit of water and cover them with my bowl cover thingy. 30 seconds per side. NOM.

I also do muffins, frozen in the paper cups, then tossed in a bag for cooking later. I like to cook them fresh, rather than reheat, so this works well. I'd add an extra bit of fat, just because the paper tends to stick more this way than if you bake them as you mix them.

Yes, I forgot to write that, I sprinkle mine with a few drops of water before reheating as well, keeps them from drying out in the microwave.

Funny to hear this because I did the same thing 7 years ago when I started school. My house hasn't been clean since!:lol2:

I'm sure that you are nervous about starting orientation and are filling up your day with doing something productive... we nurses LOVE organization!

BUT just wait until you come home from a 12 hour shift and you drop your bag, coat, and clothes on the floor and just crawl in bed and lay there for a while. Cleaning your house becomes a lesser priority when your energy is spent on a day of nursing!

Why do you think we're doing it now?? lol

Hey! I think I am on the "ride" most of you are on! I have organized things that were organized to start with. It is only me living in my apartment so in a way I am lucky. I threw away all unimportant dishes so I would not have to wash them while in school. I repotted all my plants that were root bound. I deep cleaned my little hampster's cage, and threatened him not to throw his food all over the place (lol). I informed my boyfriend that most Thursdays I would "pencil" him in that day, and may even let him stay the night if I dont have a study group coming over early the next day. I warned my friends not to call after 10:30pm.

I am sure there will be things that I will think of after school starts that I have to put in order. I look forward to when this ride really gets started.

Hang on! And lets make this ride the best ever.......Good Luck everyone!!!!

Good grief! My semester just started, too, and I got so sick of nursing books scattered all over the house that I have been working on reorganizing the home office space so I can confine those buggers to just one room.

I just don't have the time to de-clutter when I'm taking full-time classes. I'm sure by the end of the semester I won't be able to see my desk...or the office floor...or the couch....

LOL on penciling in your sweeting on Thursdays! My husband suggested watching a DVD tonight. Told him sorry, but I am spending the evening curled up with my pathophysiology book!

When you start your studies, there will be difficult times and you may use your house as an excuse not to do your work, ie I will clean the house then do some study(I do it all the time).....you will get behind in your assigned work and essays will be left to the last minute...so take this time before your semester begins to practice having a messy house as our study should come first and house cleaning defiantly last...let someone else do it if they don't like it!

Good luck

I've already told my friends that we can't have study groups here because I'll spend all my time cleaning. Once the kids are in school (next week! :yeah:), I'll be able to leave in the morning and stay at school in the afternoon to study. Then when I'm home, I can worry about the catbox.
