I think it's time to start this... how many more days for you?

After today... I have 14 days with the kids, plus one staff day.

Students out on Monday, June 8. I'm out June 9th. Snow days added on 4 school days to the end of the year.

22 Days?? i think that sounds about right. But it doesn't matter. I roll right from the school year into summer school - not that summer school's a huge deal - 4 hours a day - dress pretty much how i want to and see zero kids a day. Oh and make bank for doing it. That's why it's hard to turn down. At least i have all of august off -i don't want to see a kid in august!

When do you guys go back to school for the year? We get out this Friday 22nd and staff are back a week before school starts which would be last week in July. We get basically 9 weeks off for summer. When I was in school we got out in May and didn't go back until after Labor Day. Ugh. Soon there will be no summer at all.

I know when I was a kid (I'm 34 now) we started towards the end of August and got out the first week or so of June. I remember because sometimes we were in school up to my b-day (june 8) but never much after and I remember later August start times because there was devastating tornado in my town 1 day before school started one year on August 28. The high school was leveled; if school had been in session, I shudder to think how many would not have made it out.

we go back on sept 1, kids go back on the 3rd. that's pretty typical for us. I keep hearing about how "they" want year round school. Well that's all well and good except then I expect i'll get paid for more time and i'll get vacation time (with the possibility to go away whenever my little heart desires - ooh October holiday to the tropics, yes please!) and of course when we give the people working in education more pay and vacation time they will be accused of being greedy! Ha I'm on a short rope today!!

Same here! My children are done on the 28th and I go until June 2.
