The new coronavirus outbreak in Beijing grew to 106 cases Tuesday, with 29 communities in the sprawling Chinese capital back on lockdown.

Yet again, a coronavirus outbreak in China is linked to a food market ...

This coronavirus resurgence and reaction is worryingly reminiscent of the unprecedented lockdown of Wuhan and the surrounding regions in central China that began in January.

Beyond Beijing, this new surge is not Asia's only flare-up: Japan's capital city of Tokyo has reported more than 20 new cases havens here day over the past six days.

The surges in two of Asia's biggest capitals serve as a clear warning to America and all other countries: reopening risks reinfection.

No worries. I’m nearly impossible to offend; I can be easily confounded though. Everything goes through a prism of intellectual curiosity for me. I desperately hope I can get better at social interaction though. I despise having a weak spot.

You will have to practice. Off line. Face to face with real, live people. Preferably ones who will both give you honest feedback and yet be kind.

You may also want to seek counseling from someone who understands your need for rote demonstration and repetition. Also look up "social stories". They are geared toward children with spectrum disorders and are helpful. You are an intelligent adult, but they may be able to break things down in a way that make sense for you nonetheless.

Meanwhile, back on topic, our second wave of covid will likely be as poorly managed as the first, in the absence of a change of leadership.

But the above quotes an op ED in The WSJ that Pence says it isn't going to come back, so, yes, it will be bungled the second time just as well as they are doing now. Trump appears to be augering into the ground but his party doesn't seem to mind it enough to escort him off the dais. Mike Pence has the same misplaced ego issues since he has intimated that he is irresistible to women and thinks he's even qualified to expound on the future behavior of this virus.

What I feel like I am seeing play out now in the GOP is a maneuvering to see what the world is going to look like post Trump, particularly the power/idealism within the Republican Party. They have enjoyed the last four years of being able to stalwart agendas, control the masses and to forward the ability to influence beyond a level they have seen before. On the other side, is The Lincoln Project, Republicans Against Trump and other organizations who truly fear for the upholding of our constitution. I have a sinking feeling that 20 years from now, we may see Trump as a baby compared to whatever manages to take hold next. I hope it is the moderates and not the extremists and power hungry that are now in office. But I feel like we already know the good guys won't win, so that means we can expect a post-Trump world to become very dystopian indeed.

I'm lucky to be old and grateful that I got to live in the best of times before it became bad times. But it frustrates me so much to hear that younger people are apolitical and not voting because what is going on right now is going to affect their ability to maintain a middle class lifestyle for the rest of their lives. It's increasing a winner take all world so it should be pretty ugly in 20 years,
