Cook Children's GN Residency Feb 2015 Cohort

Published

Hey y'all I'm getting ready to apply for the Cook Children's GN residency for the February 2015 cohort and I was hoping to get some advice or really just people to talk to about the process :)

I'm almost done with my essay but I'm still "perfecting" it because I'm a terrible essay writer.

No news here yet either. Does anyone know if Cook doesn't like to hire people from out of state? I don't live in Texas and in my research of other candidates, I haven't been able to find out if anyone who didn't live in the area/ state was hired.

I don't live in Texas either. They told me they have hired nurses from over 150 different schools from 48 different states so I really don't think they care where you live!

I know that they have interviewed about 40/50 in the past. Did anyone hear how many they were interviewing and how many positions were available specifically for this cohort?

No news yet  They said they were taking 12 this cohort! So not very many…

Geez! That seems like less than what I usually heard. I wonder if they interviewed the normal amount of people too.

I know! The resident who gave me my tour said that they usually take less residents for the Feb cohort because its a smaller pool of graduates and they'll take more for the May graduates

I heard they had 65 interviews and would take anywhere between 12-25.

Do you know of anyone who has heard yet? If you got an offer please register and comment.

No I haven't heard of anyone :/

I have not heard yet either! The nurse resident who interviewed me was from Louisiana so I don't think it matters where you are from if you're a strong candidate! Also, one of the lady's interviewing me told me they would be making phone calls Thursday the 23rd!

Good to know! That's different than the timeline they usually seem to follow!

This is going to drive me craaaazy haha! We have our exit HESI on Thursday and I'm so distracted ;)
