Cook Children's GN Residency Feb 2015 Cohort

Published

Hey y'all I'm getting ready to apply for the Cook Children's GN residency for the February 2015 cohort and I was hoping to get some advice or really just people to talk to about the process :)

I'm almost done with my essay but I'm still "perfecting" it because I'm a terrible essay writer.

Has anybody else heard? There is no other program like this and I really wanted to get in! I saw that you can't apply twice :nailbiting:

I saw that too! That's really unfortunate. Well, someone said previously that people will be contacted Thursday. I'm not going to give up hope until Thursday night. If not contacted by then, I would assume that the emails will be going out Friday.

Still haven't heard anything..

I guess tomorrow then? Unless anyone has heard tonight? Do you know how many people applied? At least we got interviews.

sarahdanielle14 I know you said a lot of people in your school applied. Have any of them heard?

I know of 2 who have heard today. I am just praying they still have a few people left to call tomorrow!

200 people applied.

Hey guys,

I received an offer on Tuesday evening. I work there and talked to my manager about the whole process and this is what she told me:

This is one of the most competitive groups they've had and they had to hold an executive meeting Tuesday afternoon in order to narrow down the decision. That's why there weren't any calls on Monday. Calls were made on Tuesday from the director of the residency. I think they may only be taking 12 people, but it could be up to 15. I hope this helps a little bit for people wanting answers.

Got my rejection email. Good luck everyone!

They said no to me too. I'm very disappointed. But it is comforting to know it was especially competitive this year. I do want to know what made someone else a better pick than me.

Children's Medical Dallas just posted their GN positions if anyone is interested!

does anyone have any advice for the interview? What type of questions were asked? Any help is greatly appreciated.
