Connecticut Community Colleges - Applying for 2014

I've read through last year's version of this thread 100 times, so I thought I'd start a new one. I'm planning to apply for NCC's 2014 program. I'm taking A&P I right now (A- midterm grade, hoping to make that an A!) and will need to do the software applications class online in the winter session, so I won't be able to submit my app until final grades are out for that. Hopefully I won't be cutting it too close to the Feb 1st deadline! I'm taking my TEAS on November 18th.

Who else is applying? Where are you in the application process? Post your TEAS scores and GPA stats if you know them! My nursing GPA will be almost a 3.8 with an A- in A&P and an A in CSA105, but I dropped out two semesters in a row in 2006 (one semester medically excused but still on my transcript, the other no excuse, just screwed up being 19 and not very serious about my education at that time) I hope those hiccups won't count against me too much, luckily none of the classes I was taking at the time applied to the nursing program.

So now that all of the letters have been sent out, will they send us an email saying that a decision has been made or are we supposed to just keep stalking commnnet?

If I could offer my two cents. I'm not waiting on a letter right now - I'm just restarting my prereqs this fall. But I've been a member of this board for years and every year I read this thread and share in the excitement and anticipation of waiting on the letter. I would definitely suggest being patient and not stalk commnet. Last year there were glitches, this were switched and then disappeared and I've seen the angst this causes. Just wait for the actual letter to come in the mail. Good luck to everyone! I know this is a very exciting time of year and am hoping to be stalking my mailbox two years from right now. :)

Unfortunately they're not mailing letters this year, we find out if we were accepted through commnet. I just don't know if they notify us when a decision has been made :-)

They only mail letters if you're waitlisted, it will have your number. When people stalk commnet, it causes it to glitch because of the override.

How does checking commnet to see if the link is available cause a glitch? I'm 99% positive the glitch comes from Hartford...when they load the decisions, it opens up if you search for it (but the link doesn't open). They shut it down last year after someone called one of the colleges and asked why she was waitlisted. The same glitch happened the year before.

They will send an email through your college email address saying when the link is available. The message to nursing students on the student tab will also change, but last year that did not change until the day after the link was made available.

Was the wait listed decision in letter form or did they put it on commnet?

The decisions aren't sent by email. The link is supposed to go up on commnet and the email is to alert you when that happens. The glitch is in the coding of the website, as jan said, so when the decisions are uploaded the link is not "live" or even visible unless you do a search.

I'm assuming that if they were able to fix it last year, they'll take extra care that it doesn't happen again this year. But we can all hope right? ;)

When the link opens, it says whether you are accepted or waitlisted. If accepted, then you can print what you need. If waitlisted, it will tell you the letter with your number will be mailed.
