Connecticut Community Colleges - Applying for 2014

Published

I've read through last year's version of this thread 100 times, so I thought I'd start a new one. I'm planning to apply for NCC's 2014 program. I'm taking A&P I right now (A- midterm grade, hoping to make that an A!) and will need to do the software applications class online in the winter session, so I won't be able to submit my app until final grades are out for that. Hopefully I won't be cutting it too close to the Feb 1st deadline! I'm taking my TEAS on November 18th.

Who else is applying? Where are you in the application process? Post your TEAS scores and GPA stats if you know them! My nursing GPA will be almost a 3.8 with an A- in A&P and an A in CSA105, but I dropped out two semesters in a row in 2006 (one semester medically excused but still on my transcript, the other no excuse, just screwed up being 19 and not very serious about my education at that time) I hope those hiccups won't count against me too much, luckily none of the classes I was taking at the time applied to the nursing program.

Got wait listed again at gateway bummer :(

Sorry to here...

How many times have you applied?

Yep, oh well. I still have bhsn as my last hope

Im with you!!! *fingers crossed*

does anyone know if we have to wait to finish anatomy 2 and submit transcript before we register for nur101?

If you are taking A&P2 within the CTCCC System, you do NOT need to submit a transcript, it is in there system. You're seat is contingent upon finishing A&P2 successfully. Your orientation won't be until after A&P anyway, I believe.

This is my second time. This time I had an A on A and P, A in micro, raised my teas score 3 points, and my gpa from 3.66 to 3.70. And i was number 22 on the waitlist. Lets see what number i am now. Maybe is a sign that tells me to give up. I don't know. I'm really dissapointed on myself. I should have worked harder on the teas score, but I concentrated my energy on getting As on micro and Aand P. I'm sad.

Don't be sad! it will happen for you do not give up. If it is truly what you want to do have faith and keep trying!

Don't give up! Your stats are so close to mine! I'm praying you are at the top of the waitlist!

You need to read the paperwork carefully to see if you need to submit a transcript after you finish a&p. People were removed from the waitlist last year because they took a&p at a different community college than they applied to for nursing and failed to submit a transcript showing they successfully completed it.

I know I have to submit my transcript after a&p2, but I wasn't aware I could not register for nursing classes until I submitted it

Thank youu, I know, but it's just so frustrating to work so hard on something and get this. I am a small business owner, (home cleaning) I work very hard. I just want to become a professional nurse and enjoy what I do for living, which I don't now. Let's see what will I get at bhsn for my effort. Thank you so much for your encouragement! I really needed it. :)

I completely understand polysuazo! I applied to NVCC and was also wait listed. My stats are identical to many of those that got in, so I really don't understand. I worked my butt off, and it's devastating to get that kind of news. There are really no words to express the awful feeling. We worked so hard, but DON'T GIVE UP!!! If it's really what you want to do, you'll get there. We have to remind ourselves that there will always be bumps in the road, don't get discouraged!

Sounds like some of you (polysuazo and ally_c) might have gotten screwed over by the random selection. When you've put in so much work, it's hard to accept that someone who met the minimum standards has the same shot as someone who barely missed the cut off for rank-based admissions. I really wonder if it's time for the CCs to reexamine their admissions policies. I wonder if anyone has compiled the data on how students do when they get in from random selection rather than rank.

Please don't give up! The hard work, determination, and patience that has brought you this far will bring you all the way through. You can do it!

Also, if you are so close, it still might happen for you this year. When do you find out your wait list number?
