Connecticut Community Colleges - Applying for 2014

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

I've read through last year's version of this thread 100 times, so I thought I'd start a new one. I'm planning to apply for NCC's 2014 program. I'm taking A&P I right now (A- midterm grade, hoping to make that an A!) and will need to do the software applications class online in the winter session, so I won't be able to submit my app until final grades are out for that. Hopefully I won't be cutting it too close to the Feb 1st deadline! I'm taking my TEAS on November 18th.

Who else is applying? Where are you in the application process? Post your TEAS scores and GPA stats if you know them! My nursing GPA will be almost a 3.8 with an A- in A&P and an A in CSA105, but I dropped out two semesters in a row in 2006 (one semester medically excused but still on my transcript, the other no excuse, just screwed up being 19 and not very serious about my education at that time) I hope those hiccups won't count against me too much, luckily none of the classes I was taking at the time applied to the nursing program.

Congrats Morgan!!

I can't believe you didn't get in polysuazo! Maybe you are at the top of the waitlist? I had A in a&p, 75 on teas and 3.78 gpa

Noble nurse

I would send transcripts to school of your choice to make sure your Goodwin classes transfer

I'm taking A&P2 right now and will take Micro as a hybrid in the fall. I hear it's hard to do along with the nursing courses but because of my wedding and honeymoon I couldn't swing a summer class.

Got it. I'm taking micro in the summer at housatonic. I'm done with all APs, and taking SOCIOLOGY and LIFE SPAN now. Who is your AP teacher?

Like I said in a previous post there is really exciting news coming out of BHSN who finalized a deal with the University of Bridgeport to open a prenursing pathway for UB students and an eventual BSN for BHSN students. This is really going to throw a wrench in people deciding over a BHSN vs CCC program. But this development cemented my decision to give up my seat at NCC for BHSN. On the bright side I'm helping someone on the wait list.

Hi helena what do you mean regular email? Not the community college email? I can't seem to access that... I too got into NVCC and want to do the LPN-RN fast track as well.

I got waitlisted at Gateway :( I have 3.43 GPA, 76.3 TEAS, and A- A&P I grade. I have no idea what my # will be. Fellow Gateway waitlisters, good luck! It's certainly a good program, and worthwhile. I think if you are in the top 10 you have a good chance of going. I may try to volunteer at a hospital to gain experience.

Hi everyone and congrats to all those who got accepted to CT-CCNPs today! What an agonizing 6 months its been waiting to find out!I got accepted at NCC which I'm thrilled about! (I put all my eggs in one basket and just applied there, so thank god I got in!). Does anyone know if we will be able to find out if we got in on rank (and what our rank is) or on random selection? Not that it really matters at this point, but I'm curious to know what my stats put me at! Based on what I'm seeing here from a lot of people I feel like it might have been random selection...let me know if anyone has any info! thanks!

Thank you! Yeah, I hope to get into bhsn. I retook a and p to reapply this year, last year I was number 22 out ot 125 and the list didn't move but every year is a different pool so I'm not really putting my hopes onthe waitlist this year. If I don't get into any nursing program this year I'll get my bachelors in public health at Southern and may try the ACE in the future if I still have the energy for it. That would be my plan B. THANK youuu

Hi ernesta, that has also been on my mind. At this point I am leaning more towards bhson. So someone else who applied to nvcc will be getting the news that they got in.
