Connecticut Community Colleges - Applying for 2014

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

I've read through last year's version of this thread 100 times, so I thought I'd start a new one. I'm planning to apply for NCC's 2014 program. I'm taking A&P I right now (A- midterm grade, hoping to make that an A!) and will need to do the software applications class online in the winter session, so I won't be able to submit my app until final grades are out for that. Hopefully I won't be cutting it too close to the Feb 1st deadline! I'm taking my TEAS on November 18th.

Who else is applying? Where are you in the application process? Post your TEAS scores and GPA stats if you know them! My nursing GPA will be almost a 3.8 with an A- in A&P and an A in CSA105, but I dropped out two semesters in a row in 2006 (one semester medically excused but still on my transcript, the other no excuse, just screwed up being 19 and not very serious about my education at that time) I hope those hiccups won't count against me too much, luckily none of the classes I was taking at the time applied to the nursing program.

Mrs.Ernesta I heard yesterday that NCC is also putting a BSN program into place, starting next year, which is why they didn't have fall/spring options this time. Apart from that they also have agreements with SHU, Quinnipiac, Westconn and others for guaranteed acceptance into their RN to BSN programs when you graduate. I think both schools are excellent so it really comes down to personal choice, just thought you should know if that was your only reason for picking BHSN.

Got it. I'm taking micro in the summer at housatonic. I'm done with all APs, and taking SOCIOLOGY and LIFE SPAN now. Who is your AP teacher?

I don't think we're supposed to mention anyone's name on here, the mods will usually delete it. But it starts with an F and ends with a Y lol. He's...ok. Let's just say I'm looking forward to being done with this course. I'm also taking lifespan right now, with Professor B.

haha you just put me back to square one with making a decisions, not a bad dilemma to find myself in could be worse I could have no schools to choose from. most of all these programs have some kind of agreement with BSN programs I just thought the transition would be seamless if you are technically already in a BSN program. Oh well decisions decisions.....

Haha sorry I didn't know that :)

I'm taking lifespan with Prof C, he is good.

As for AP 2, I know... those classes are a pain... but hang in there. We are almost done :)

The advantage of BHSN is that it's a hospital based program. So you get more clinical experience, and getting a job when you are done is easier.

The down side is the price, and there is no financial aid or scholarship...

I got accepted there last year, but they withdraw my acceptance when they found out that I was in process of renewing my green card (the plastic was about to expire, so you have to renew it... Just paperwork...) I was so mad at them that I didn't apply again this year.

I would send transcripts to school of your choice to make sure your Goodwin classes transfer
