Hi everyone, I'm starting this thread so we can share information about the CAS, the program we should pass in order to gain registration in Queensland, Australia. I have passed all four components of the CAS challenge test and it can be done with hard work and a lot of prayer, you do not really need agencies for this. For starters, the challenge test is a 70 item test with multiple choice questions, occasionally with identification items also.

Hi joeturtle,

Congratulations on your achievement. We would like to know how did they assess you point by point including your nursing interventions, if you wouldn't mind. This will help us in the preparation. I'm quite concerned about pharmacology. Will they ask you actions, etc? And for the regulated drugs, ....

The assessor looks out for mistakes and he tells you if you commit one. You are only allowed 6 minor mistakes and zero fatal mistakes. Always think before doing, they are in no hurry anyway. As to pharma, focus on side effects and nursing considerations, basic drugs like antihypertensives, cardiac meds, diuretics, analgesics etc. Thank you for pointing this legislation, but as I have said, they require ideal practice.

Joe Turtle, thank you 4 all d tips, it wil help us very much when the time is for us to be there in d exam. What about d drugs? You required to say it or tell your patient need this medicine? Mwah! Mwah!

Congratulations joeturtle!!! :)

Am i right in my understanding though that when one fails Part B, he does the 1 month OJT next right, after which he will be assessed?

Yes, there was a time when the actor patient asked me about the drug I will give, even asked what an mL is, kinda funny really

Congratulations joeturtle!!! :)

The 160 hours clinical placement is the assessment in itself.

congratulations joeturtle! good luck and God bless :wink2:

Assuming everything works out, how long will it take from the lodging of application to passing the CAS B?

Thanks!

you can never tell a definite time line, as they will look at us individually, they might want to ask for an additional document to justify a certain thing...and etc..

plus delays cant be avoided too. :)

You really need to concentrate on passing English exam. Without it I seriously think you will have issues both with finding a employer/licensure and immigration

Reading your post I doubt that taking the exam in May is a good idea, since your language ability is quite lacking, nothing that can't be fixed though.

I suggest to postpone your english exam and take an intensive english language course, if available with a native speaker.

You need to read english newspapers, literature , listen to english news (if possible) watch movies in english. Use english as much as you can, and then only schedule a test when you are ready.

hi, i suggest you to attend english classes. in doing such way your english will be enhanced and you will learn a lot of things and that includes vocabulary, grammar and sentence construction, its better for you to do this rather taking the ielts again and again. this can prepare you for the english exam.

your application for registration will never progress if you fail to submit a passing ielts score. keep on practising and you will get your prize for sure.
