Hi everyone, I'm starting this thread so we can share information about the CAS, the program we should pass in order to gain registration in Queensland, Australia. I have passed all four components of the CAS challenge test and it can be done with hard work and a lot of prayer, you do not really need agencies for this. For starters, the challenge test is a 70 item test with multiple choice questions, occasionally with identification items also.

hi guys! im also interested to know how did you review for the test? im just waiting for my ielts result for my application.. what are the materials did you use? and how long did you review for the test?
The CAS challenge test is very similar to NCLEX. The whole test is 70 items divided into the ff:
clinical= 30items
transcultural nsg= 10
legal nsg= 15
professional issues= 15
Here are the materials I used:
1. All downloadable info sheets from the Queensland Nursing Council website, tons of info and its free!
2. Fundamentals of Nursing by Kozier et.al.
3. Transcultural Nursing in Multicultural Australia by the Royal College of Nursing. 1996
4. Essentials of Law for Health Professionals by Forrester and Griffiths
Each of this material corresponds to a component in the challenge test.
I got the books on law and transcultural nsg. from a friend in Australia.

I don' think it is sold in the Philippines because it pertains to Australian laws. Maybe you can purchase online.

What is the step by step process on how to apply for CAS?
1. Submit application QNC1 to the Nursing council.
2. Submit request for license verification to the Nursing council?
How many months is the waiting period for the Nursing council to reply?

Hi everyone, lucky to find this nursing forum which we could share tips and reach out to our fellow colleagues at lost. Desperate with the retrogression, I made this crucial decision to try another career path, and that is applying as RN to Oz. Well, I'm done with CGFNS and NCLEX. And, IELTS has already expired so I have to review for March exam, struggling to begin again, back to basic. And I'm about to complete the requirements for QNC1 and send it to QNC. I've already processed my verification of license at PRC. I just need to have my documents certified by notary public and I'm looking for a good standing notary public here at Quezon City. Hopefully this week, I'll be able to send my QNC1 to QNC.
To those our fellow nurses who have already surpass this process, kindly share us tips, guidance:cry: I intend to do it on my own without having to avail the high rates of consultancies and agencies offering assistance with the CAS program and review for the challenge test and eventually employment. I believe there are others who made it all the way on their own and now are successful as well.
My main concern now is my review source in preparation for the CAS challenge test. No review center here in the Philippines offers it except for those agencies/consultancies which have the review as part of their package. So when I found this thread, I saw light hoping...
Kindly share...help!!!!!! thank you so much..

Just to clarify things, you are applying to the Queensland Nursing Council (QNC) for registration as a nurse. I think this is what you mean and not the application to CAS because you would need QNC approval before applying to CAS.
Process on applying to the QNC for registration:
1. Submit application form QNC1 along with fee and supporting documents
2. Arrange to have verification of current license sent to the QNC directly by your nurse registering authority
3. Arrange to have your IELTS results sent directly to QNC by the testing center.
The QNCs acknowledgment letter was dated 2 weeks after they received the application. Add more time for the mail to arrive by post.
Hi joeturtle, thanks for your posts, I'm learning a lot from you guys. Im just concerned with my review in preparation for the challenge test. Though, I'm still on the process of submitting my QNC1 to QNC, I'm anticipating the challenge test. I had my IELTS exam scheduled this March and so I have to resign from my current job effective this March too, to focus on my reviews. I'm desperate and lost about resources/review materials for the challenge test so I emailed CAS and QNC for any suggestions and fortunately they responded to my enquiry and suggested 4 books which corresponds to each part of the challenge test And I had to purchase these online yesterday. Kindly don't get tired posting updates to coach and/or guide us throughout the process. May God bless you back;)
