Would anyone like to share what kind of shoes you prefer? Clogs or tennis shoes?
Can you give recommendations on what kind of shoes you have found to be the most comfortable?
This is a bit of a hi-jack... But everyone's feet are so different, so it's hard to answer the question. However, I'm looking at getting some new shoes. I have really wide and flat feet (I've lived barefoot or in flip flops for as long as I can remember). I'm currently wearing Crocs, but I'm looking for something more supportive... Anyone have recommendations specifically for wide, flat feet?
I'm wide and flat-footed myself. I wear Nike Free sneakers. I prefer 3.0s, but have no real complaints with a pair of 5.0s that I bought. The are very lightweight and I have no fatigue after 12 hours. I'm cheap so I only get them from the Nike outlet, otherwise you're looking at $120. They are worth it. I've washed them a few times and they still kept their shape & comfort. They come in all colors.
During nursing school, we were required to wear white shoes, so I purchased some top quality leather walking shoes. They were very comfortable and I've had them for about 3 years now. They were expensive (about $130) but I went to a store that specializes in hard to fit shoes (I have very high arches). It was worth every penny.
I'm starting my very first nursing job tomorrow. Last week, I went to the scrub store to get my hospital scrubs. While I was there, I decided to try on some Danskos. I've been so sick of plain white shoes (hard to keep clean). I tried on a pair of very colorful Danskos and I absolutely *loved* them. If you've got high arches, you'll love these shoes. The guy at the scrub shop said Danskos are very "love 'em or hate 'em", so I guess I'm in the "love 'em" group. They are uber comfy!!! I wish I could have had a pair of these when I was in nursing school. They were about $135, but again, they're well made and will last a long time.
When it comes to shoes, I'd rather invest in a pair that are well made and will give me years of wear vs. a cheaper pair I'll have to replace more often.

Ecco Biom (athletic shoe). They are pricey but well worth it and they last. I fractured the ball of my foot and had to have it partially removed. Had swelling for months and after 4 months in a post op shoe I couldn't take it anymore and went to the mall looking for any pair that I could comfortably put on my foot and not watch it blow up five minutes later. These did it. I went home and pitched the Nike's that I had be wearing when the fracture occurred. I went from wearing a post-op shoe to wearing these with a support hose for over 12 hours in a busy facility. What a difference!
