Columbia University ETP 2011

Thought it'd be a good idea to start a thread for prospective applicants to Columbia's ETP program starting Summer 2011. I was going to apply last year but passed on it in favor of working for another year.

Applications are due November 15, 2010! :eek: Right around the corner ...

Anyone else preparing for this also? :clown:

Hi All,

Thought I'd join and let everyone know that I'm also applying as a second-time applicant to the midwifery specialty. It's been a long journey for me as my next step is just getting into a graduate program. I mistakenly only applied to two schools last year. Though, I'm only applying to 4 schools this time around... I only qualify for the prerequisites of four schools in the northeast region. So, I really hope to get into at least one.

I have just begun on my personal statement and there's only a little more than a month left, so, I am kicking myself in the butt. It's my final thing left on my to-do list but it's definitely tougher this year just because it's my second time writing one and I'm out of ideas.

A1551, I will be applying to the ETP program and desperately want to be accepted into the anesthesia track. I was wondering if you could possibly tell me more about where you stood in comparison to the average applicants. (GPA, GRE score, or prereq GPA) This would be greatly appreciated and give me some idea of where I may stand.

Hey All -

Anyone know if we can submit more than 3 LORs? I have letters from two professors, an RN, and the pediatrician I currently work for. I haven't read them since I opted to keep them confidential. Having a tough time deciding which to submit. Any thoughts?

It appears I can't yet send a private message as I don't have enough posts, or I would have fired you a PM with specifics. However I'd say on average GPA/GRE scores for the anesthesia track students would be higher than the overall averages cited earlier in the thread. I'd say I'd email them to you instead, but there's a big warning about 6 inches up on my monitor saying not to post email addresses :D

I need to vent...how is it that I got my application in on Sept 16 but I'm STILL waiting on my last recommendation. Just a question, how often would any of you send that "reminder" to your recommenders? My recommender is completely supportive and got my other schools done quickly, but just seems so busy now. I don't want to harass him but it just seems that November 15 is fast approaching :crying2:

Hey Hopkins76,

I would just tell him its getting down to crunch time and you have to send them in ASAP because it takes time to get through the schools mail. I would give him a final deadline, which is the latest time you could send it in, then he will have an exact deadline that he needs to return the letters to you. Hope this helps!!
