  1. Hi chiasmus - I've been accepted to Hopkins' accelerated BSN program starting this May. When I was in the application process, I asked Hopkins if they have a preference between prereqs taken at a 2 year institution versus a 4 year institution. They do not. I also took a prereq online (developmental psych) and they did not balk at that. Just remember to pick the class format that will be most conducive to learning. I cannot imagine taking any of the core science courses (micro, anat, phys, chem) online, but that's just me. Good luck! C.
  2. tsorfia - Well said! This is precisely why I've chosen JHU. With each interaction, I'm reminded why this is the right program for me. I can't wait for May... C.
  3. Hi Disappointed - I'm sorry you're not happy in the program. Could you elaborate a little on your experience? What specifically has led you to believe the education is not comparable to other schools? I think those of us considering Hopkins would all like to know. Thanks for sharing, C.
  4. Hey All - If you've been accepted to the accelerated program, please don't forget to join our facebook group for accepted accelerated students. Just search for "Johns Hopkins University *Accelerated Nursing Class of 2012*" and join the group. There's a meet and greet the evening before accepted students day. You can find details on the fb group page. If you're still waiting to hear, best of luck! Fingers crossed! C.
  5. jnak - Thank you so much for your thoughtful post. I don't think I'm alone in feeling excited and a little anxious about what lies in store for us. Any bit of advice or insight from someone in the trenches is always helpful. Thank you. Even though I'm not there yet, I totally get what you mean about the faculty wanting students to succeed. I got that impression even through the application process. Everyone, from admissions staff to professors to the dean, is just so helpful and supportive. This is one of the major reasons that I'm choosing Hopkins. It's nice to know that support goes beyond the application process. Are you going on to the MSN portion? If so, which specialty did you choose? Also, has your current vision of where you see yourself working as a nurse changed since before you started the program? C.
  6. Congrats, Ruby! :yeah:Which masters specialty have you chosen? I've also been accepted to Columbia and I'm super frustrated with the overlapping Columbia/JHU admitted students days. You'd think these guys would coordinate! I know nothing about Columbia and a lot about JHU, which I think says something about the programs (something that's weighing heavily in my final decision of where to go). As much as I would like to check out Columbia, I'm 90% sure that I'm going to Hopkins, so I really want to meet the rest of the cohort. Which accepted students day will you attend? C.
  7. Congrats, Hopkins! I'm so torn. Anyone have any input on Columbia vs. Hopkins???? C.
  8. Congrats, Fried Zucchini! In hindsight, I wish I'd applied to a dual degree program here and at Hopkins. Did you apply to the BSN/MSN/MPH at JHU as well? C.
  9. Hey there, Applicants in Waiting! Accepted students day is March 4th, so I would hope that they'd let you all know by then! That's only about 3 weeks away! You're almost there... C.
  10. @NurseGradHopeful - Those are all great programs. BC is ranked especially well for the pediatrics specialty. I think you'll make the right decision once you visit and get a better feel for each school's program. I was accepted to Hopkins and as much as I would LOVE to live in NY, Hopkins' program just feels right. Good luck to you in your decision - it's a good problem to have!
  11. @NurseGradHopeful - I'm in for the pediatrics specialty. Which other schools are you considering? C.
  12. I'm in for peds! So nice to see the decision, but I'm not sure I'm going. Congrats to everyone who has been accepted. You should be proud!
  13. Agreed, jma! If anyone is interested in a Bay Area meetup, let's coordinate! C.
  14. I'm also making the move out from the Bay Area. I'm coming with my fiance and dog in tow. I'm super excited that there are others bringing their furry friends! Is it May yet?! C.
