Hey everyone. I was just wondering who applied to Columbia University's ETP program.
I got an email today telling me to keep logging into the website where I applied to check on the status of my application. Has anyone else got this email? And does anyone know approximately when they begin to post decisions?
I'm nervous as this was my #2 school.
this entire process has made me quite humble, and caused me to realize admissions committees all have their own criteria about whom they want to make up their incoming classes. ==> it's all a cr*pshoot, and unfortunately a part of the process of applying to schools.
Fionagurl, you are SO right on with that. It's DEFINITELY a humbling experience to realize how competitive these programs are, and how many qualified applicants they have to turn away. I definitely felt the sting when I was rejected without interview from UCSF. But they have to make cuts somehow, and sometimes it's not because we're not qualified, just that they are looking to have a specific makeup to the incoming class. I think it takes away some (but not all) of the sting when you think of it that way.
I have the impression that they will send the rejection letters last. There have been many posts on this forum from applicants celebrating their acceptance to the program, but none talking about being rejected. I am starting to believe that the longer it takes, the greater the likelihood of being rejected. I might be wrong, but these are my two cents.
What a coincidence! Me too. I are starting to change my theory. Maybe they are sending letters in batches by specialty. I noticed that no one on this forum seems to have been accepted to acute care yet. Maybe this is a way for Columbia to test our anxiety level, make us realize what our threshold actually is. After all, we'll all be working in ICU. When that ends up happening, we'll long for the stress that we are feeling right now, as it is probably nothing compared to being in an ICU or Emergency Room

when all is said and done, nursing will not be an 'easy' profession, either, so this is preparing us for a difficult career to come. however, the passion we all share and fulfillment this chosen career will bring will make all the downs worthwhile. hang in there!
