Columbia SON MDE 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to start this thread for those who are all applying to the Columbia School of Nursing MDE program for 2019 Entry.

I figured we could all share our thoughts/ questions/ concerns here, or just use this to meet some new people ?

My name is Gurdeep, I'm from NY, and I'm a recent Grad from Binghamton University. Looking forward to meeting all of you ?

Hi are you allowed to pause and take a break before the timed writing?

Hello! I'm wondering what other applicant's experience with the video essay was like. Of course I can't be sure, but I was extremely nervous for my video (CUSON is my #1 choice) and I think I rambled a bit. Also my voice probably sounded shaky as I was stumbling on my words. Did anybody have a similar experience? I'm concerned I may have blown my application with this one part.

I remember I was quite nervous and felt this way too. Don't worry about the video. We all felt nervous about that portion. As long as you had good eye contact and spoke from the heart, that should be fine! Columbia truly looks at your application holistically.

MDE ONLY APPLICANTS: What are your thoughts on Columbia over other ABSN programs? What have you been told about the value of obtaining an MSN?

Thank goodness for this thread! I'm Emily. I graduated in 2012 with a BA in Spanish for Translation. Minored in speech pathology and Portuguese. After that, I taught elementary Spanish for a couple years. I'm applying to the MDE program for entry in summer 2019. Currently taking Stats and Chem, and I'll finish up the pre-reqs with Microbio next semester. Anyone on here that already submitted their application?

Has anyone officially submitted their application? I have, but waiting on recommenders to finalize their recommendations.

Hey guys! Good luck with finishing up your applications! I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their timed-writing question? It's my understanding that they're randomly selected from a bank of questions. Thank you in advance!

Something along the lines of "what would you do if a friend or relative got sick"
