Columbia School of Nursing MDE 2018

Published

Hi AN fellows!

I know it is super early to start such a thread but I was hopping to connect with potential applicants/classmates for Columbia SON MDE 2018 program!

If you are applying to Columbia SON for summer 2018, let's share our experiences, ideas, thoughts and such!

Looking forward to hearing from some of you!

Hi @TangoDeux! I was going to apply to UCSF as well but my statistics prereq expired (by 3 months) so I would have to retake it before applying. So I could apply next year if I want to but won't be eligible this cycle

Yes, the stats requirement change. I had a few people post on the UCSF thread that they were going to apply but weren't able to because of the change. I almost didn't take stats again because my math was good enough from my undergrad to fulfill the requirement. I didn't realize they changed the requirements last year so I was glad I went to a second info session where they mentioned the change.

Well, I am glad that we are applying to some of the same schools. I saw some of your posts on the UPenn thread so hopefully we get interviews in the coming months!

@soydelmonte ..Following up on your post in the SB thread...how was the info session today did they give you any updated info on the finances/cost? I'm interested to see what it's (hopefully) changing to!

Hey @amaxk0255 it was very informative and super great meeting the Director of Admissions Jose Villa. He said the overall cost is $110,000 dollars for the entire program (not including like health insurance and room/board). In addition to this he said they are going to change the financial aid/merit based scholarship. He said in the previous years students would receive up to $25,000 at the beginning of the program as a scholarship. But now they're adding a new component to the financial aid where you'd have to fill out a few more questions. It was a little confusing but essentially he said this would allow for some students to even receive up to $50,000 or even $60,000 dollars in aid if they show the need. I don't remember why they're doing this switch.

Also, for those who were concerned about the X on their application status next to their GRE scores, not to worry because it just means that their work study student hasn't been able to check you off as good to go.

Yes Columbia

Did anyone else receive an email saying application submitted today? 10/24. I also received an application submitted on 10/16 (when I turned in completed all necessary items).

I've gotten two emails as well.

I received that email again as well and now my application says submitted 10/24 -___- I worked hard to get it on the priority deadline lol.

Maybe they didn't get all your documents, transcripts, letters of rec, GRE by the priority deadline?
