Columbia School of Nursing MDE 2018

Published

Hi AN fellows!

I know it is super early to start such a thread but I was hopping to connect with potential applicants/classmates for Columbia SON MDE 2018 program!

If you are applying to Columbia SON for summer 2018, let's share our experiences, ideas, thoughts and such!

Looking forward to hearing from some of you!

Hello all!

I have recently applied for 2018 June Start and the waiting game has me freaking out lol.

I'm trying really hard to stay positive :/

Right I check my email everyday lol meanwhile I know there will be nothing there -___-

Specializes in Midwife, OBGYN.
I'm from LA and I'm applying to Penn's BSN/MSN, MGHI's DE-MSN, Johns Hopkins, Columbia MDE/DNP, and USF! Penn and Columbia are my top choice schools

Hi @futureAGPCNP, looks like you applied to great schools but I'm curious why UCSF wasn't one of your choices since you are from CA? They have a pretty good AG program from what I have heard.

Hahahaha I'm doing the same! I'm relocating close to the NY area from Horsham, PA because my fiancé got a job in that direction and I just decided to check out Nursing programs that would be close by. That's when I saw this program and when I read the admissions criteria I was completely shocked to see that Columbia offered this! I finish my masters in May so I'm hoping and praying right now! :)

Is everyone planning on living on campus or at least off campus ... or are some people commuting. I live in NJ and I want to commute (to save money) lol but I'm not sure if that is a good idea.

I plan on commuting!

@NPDanie, I actually live in Queens, NY. The commute sucks, but I already work here and make the commute on a daily basis so an extra 15 months shouldn't be so bad. Perhaps towards the end of the program I will consider moving in closer. How far in Jersey to you commute from? The NJTransit can get very expensive and there's no point in driving to campus, you'll NEVER find parking. Trust me.

@soydelmonte I can get a student pass which won't be as bad... I currently live in Princeton but I may be moving more south so I have to see how that works out. I just know it will be cheaper than housing ... then I'll still have to buy food and stuff smh . Do you know how close columbia is to Penn station . I know nothing about new york besides the train haha.

I plan on commuting!

Yeah I think i saw you wrote that ...are you moving to ny? I know u said you are from PA.

@NPDanie Penn is not close. It's about a 25/30 min train ride on the A.

The school is by the Fort Washington Bridge so maybe you can take a bus in and walk those ten blocks to 168th

O okay thanks

Hi Everyone! Catching up on the thread.. glad everyone got their app in on time! Hoping these next four months fly by! :)

I'll be commuting to school as well. I live in NJ now and commute into NY everyday. I actually work at their medical center, so I'm used to the commute now. It's not so bad when you're coming in from northern NJ.
