Columbia MDE 2022

Published

I know the application hasn't opened yet, but wondering if there was anyone else thinking of applying to Columbia MDE/DNP programs for June 2022 entry?

Are you applying to any other schools? I also did 1st year college graduate/professional but I also applied to other schools like UPenn and Northeastern where you get a BSN and MSN degree. And UPenn specifically states you have to apply under 5th year undergraduate so I'm a little confused LOL

Yeah! It is confusing. I talked to someone over the phone who works at federal student aid. She told me to submit the form with just Columbia on it, and use the 1st year graduate. And she said whenever my other schools’ FAFSA forms are due, I can go back into the form and add a new school and change it to 5th year undergraduate and resubmit.

OMG that is so confusing and such a hassle. I applied to Duke and they sent me an email saying to specifically apply under 5th year undergraduate so I went back into my FAFSA and switched it but now I have to go back and switch it again? LOL. I wish there was an option to have a drop down for each school so you can specify for each program.

I know, right? Seems like such an easy technical fix. But honestly you should give them a call and ask someone to verify, I only spoke to one person and just took her word for it. Don’t want to give you bad advice ?

For anyone who applied to Yale SON (Aug 2022 start), tomorrow they let us know if we got an interview - or if we got denied in the first round. Good luck!

I just got off the phone with someone at FAFSA. She said that schools see every submission/correction to FAFSA that gets processed. So she told me to do what @bzzzzzzzzzz123 did. To group the schools by category, submit it, wait 3 days for it to process then go back in and add the other schools and submit. You just have to make sure each submission gets processed before you edit the next one!

Im also going to email my schools about it though just to make sure... Ill let you know what UPenn says!

Wait.. Im fixing mine now and I have a question. For the schools I'm uploading for 5th year undergraduate I put working on 2nd bachelors degree right?

That makes sense! Thank you both for doing the dirty work and calling FAFSA haha.

Yeah I would assume so since 5th year undergraduate is associated with a second bachelors and doesn't count as a graduate program, correct me if I'm wrong? Because a program that results in a Masters degree is considered a 1st year grad student I think.

Does anyone know how competitive the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care specialty is?

I found this post from earlier this year, and someone mentioned that the 2021 graduating cohort was under 20 students. But - can't hurt to just email admissions and ask!

What program did everyone on here apply for? Also where do you all see yourself in 5 years? Any interested in a specialty? I’m also asking the people only reading this thread too (I know there’s more than 5 of us!) so please respond if you are comfortable ?
Me:2022 MDE/DNP (FNP) - dermatology and aesthetic medicine… there should really be an DNP dermatology program at this point. IMO.  My end Goal is to team/partner with a plastic surgeon or derm and co-own into a practice or open my own and maybe own into a Med spa possibly as well.

Heyy I applied for the MDE/DNP midwifery program. My end goal is practice in my own clinic and start a foundation to provide seminars on maternal and sexual health in low income areas, provide scholarships for young mothers who would like to go back to school, and free STD testing, etc.

I've applied to the 2022 MDE/DNP PMH programs. As a Psych NP I want to integrate holistic modalities into care plans for patients. That would include nutrition/supplementation for mental health, reiki (I teach it), massage therapy when/if appropriate, and educational workshops for self-care tools and mindful living.
