I know the application hasn't opened yet, but wondering if there was anyone else thinking of applying to Columbia MDE/DNP programs for June 2022 entry?

I love my botox haha It can be good for people's self-esteem to have some minor procedures, so from my perspective it is a quality of enhancer.
Your plan sounds amazing ? yes derm/aesthetics is blowing up big time. Assuming I get in… if there is not already a group/club at school I would like to create one for like minded students to join and maybe help facilitate opportunities for us to be able to have experiences/rotations with the dermatology residents… from my knowledge nurses don’t get much or any dermatology academics in school. Which is a shame because it’s a great field and very important.
You all sound so amazing and regardless of the decision from Columbia, I know we will all make outstanding nurses some day!
I applied for the MDE only route under the FNP specialty as I want to be a PCP for families in medically underserved communities and establish an inclusive environment for transgender individuals to receive the same quality of care as cisgender individuals. Transgender individuals face several health disparities and I want to be a part of the change to end the prejudice and discrimination they face in healthcare settings.

Me:2022 MDE/DNP (FNP) - dermatology and aesthetic medicine… there should really be an DNP dermatology program at this point. IMO. My end Goal is to team/partner with a plastic surgeon or derm and co-own into a practice or open my own and maybe own into a Med spa possibly as well.
Wow I am so inspired reading each of your posts, love it!
I chose the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care- My end goal is to work in a CICU or similar in-patient cardiology setting (vascular medicine of some sort). I only applied to Columbia so really putting all my eggs in this basket ?

Ahhh I love that! I currently work as a medical scribe in cardiology and I was beyond intimidated at first when I started because the cardiovascular system is SO complex, but it has really shown me how beautiful this branch of medicine is. Best of luck to you!!

Regarding transgender healthcare, what comes to mind are amazing opportunities as a nurse educator, as well. In addition to direct-patient care you could facilitate clinical training for doctors, other nurses, and even the receptionists. Thank you for taking an interest in this field, it is so important!

Absolutely! I applied to the MDE only route for right now but I would definitely consider doing a DNP program in the future, specifically for the opportunities that come with being a nurse educator.

I didn’t pick a specialty! Just the regular masters portion ?
I did! I would love to participate in the Global Initiatives Program, that would be so exciting and rewarding. Oh I see, I honestly had no idea you could do that tbh haha. Best of luck to you!☺️
