I wanted to start a thread for any perspective applicants for Columbia's Anesthesia program for 2020. I submitted my application last week and wanted to hear if anyone was called for interviews yet.
My stats: ADN 3.7 BSN 4.0 CCRN, CMC, CRNI, BLS/ACLS instructor, recently promoted to unit clinician. 2.5 years of Cardiac ICU in a large level 1 teaching hospital. (of note: went to school close to 10 years and have poor grades)
I called admissions and spoke to the person that picked up, asked if Dr. Massie had finished calling everyone. She said yes. I’m devastated not to get in, I’m sure others are as well.
Congratulations to those that are starting next year though!
it is disappointing, I get it. It will take sometime to grief. As my friend told me : allow yourself to grief for a bit but then pick up and move on. Something we did on the interview that could have been done better. It is competitive. So let’s analyze what can be improved, improve it and move on. Since we all in the same shoes now, I can suggest to form a group, in which we can do mock interviews and help each other. If anyone interested let me know.

That’s what the lady on the phone said when I called. Could be a mistake or something. It is quite strange, also only 12 people in the Facebook group seems low. I guess we will have to wait.
I just called admissions and was told that they are going to send out decisions all at the same time and that it will happen next week or so. They admissions office also said that they called last year because of the timing of the interviews... And that they weren’t planning on doing that this year... so odd... anyways, I don’t think everything is lost.
