  1. I definitely agree with your feelings of indifference. I was accepted to CRNA school and am set to begin in June 2020. I also own a house, engaged and have 2 children. The finances seem unbearable but I have wanted this for as long as I can remember. We have a unique situation where my fiance's parents have offered to welcome us into their home while I am attending school, so we are in the process of selling our home. It feels like I am taking a huge step backwards but it will be for the best. We will make a decent amount on the house and add that to the amount I have saved for school. The loans/aid I get will also definitely help keep our heads above water for the next 2+ years. I am commuting by train 2hrs each way to the school I am attending, so things aren't ideal but where there is a will, there is a way.
  2. Just seeing this post for the first time. In my opinion cardiac gives you the better experience for CRNA school. I agree with Bigpoppa that a medical CICU may be bland, but it really depends on the hospital. I work in a medical CICU in a large level one teaching hospital and have had an invaluable experience and was accepted to my top choice on the first try (3 years experience when the program starts). We see high volumes of Impella's, IABP's, cardiac arrest hypothermia protocol, CVVHD, TVP's, ton of Swans at the bedside, everyone lined up on your full orificenal of drips and vents. We get the patients that aren't candidates for CV surgery that could potentially correct the problem they have. Just my own take on it, I understand every hospital is different. Best of luck to you!
  3. No, but I was wondering the same thing. I made the deposit and submitted the FAFSA so far but have not heard anything other than orientation isnt until May.
  4. Thanks for the post and congrats! What state do you plan on working in when you pass your boards? Also, you talked about taking out money to live off of, is this through the school or did you have to seek out private loan companies?
  5. I got an email as well! I officially accepted the offer, congratulations to everyone else accepting!
  6. That is amazing!!! Can't wait to meet everyone.
  7. 1. How are you handling the financial implications of no longer working and providing for yourself while in school. Are you relying on mostly loan money, etc? 2. Is there any specific area in school that was challenging for you that you wish you did preparatory work prior to admission (i.e. I've heard some people say they struggled with general chemistry concepts, etc)
  8. I just got a call from Dr. Massie as well, I was offered a spot! Congrats ICU.RN.12!
  9. I have a feeling it's going to be monday/tuesday before Thanksgiving ?
  10. Nothing here yet as well ?
  11. Sorry haha! I live over an hour away on Long Island, I plan on taking the train into the city or carpooling perhaps.
  12. The waiting is brutal, good luck to everyone who interviewed. Does anyone plan on commuting if they get in?
  13. The cohort I interviewed had 10 people in it. I had the least amount of experience, at about 2.5 years. The others had between 4-10.
  14. We were told that we would hear by Thanksgiving.
  15. The interview is 20mins.
