I wanted to start a thread for any perspective applicants for Columbia's Anesthesia program for 2020. I submitted my application last week and wanted to hear if anyone was called for interviews yet.
My stats: ADN 3.7 BSN 4.0 CCRN, CMC, CRNI, BLS/ACLS instructor, recently promoted to unit clinician. 2.5 years of Cardiac ICU in a large level 1 teaching hospital. (of note: went to school close to 10 years and have poor grades)
For those reapplying next year (or for any of those who have any words of advice): I am wanting to retake one of my science courses I did not so great in - is it better to take the course at the undergraduate level? Or graduate school level?
I have taken a few grad classes in the past because they were given as an option during my undergrad nursing program (instead of paying undergrad fees). We received graduate credits. But I retook my science courses and stats as undergrad. I recommend just going through undergrad (cheaper, easier, doable). Graduate organic chemistry classes (labeled as 400s or above- I’m sure you’ll get bonus points if you do though but I don’t think that’s all they are looking for) are quite difficult to find I believe but is probably offered through universities. There are online classes you can take as well (4 weeks long... I know , short! ) and it costs $2k per class.

I just figured they were waiting until after the deadline to submit the deposit has passed (which is today), to send out more information to everyone as a whole.

Oh I see. Don't let that discourage you. there are schools available to take required courses online at your own pace. if you finish it earlier, you don't have to wait until the semester is over to finalize the class. I did my orgo like that. Finished a little over half the time given.

Can anyone share if they have pre-reqs they had to take or are still going to?
