Colorful Shoes - Unprofessional?

Those are really pretty--not unprofessional at all. If patients or families notice them, they will be a great conversation starter.

They are professional as long as they are not prohibited by the facility's dress code. I think it's nice to bring color and beauty into what is, at times, a dreary atmosphere!

Those are completely professional! People in the hospitals wear these all the time! You will be fine. My danskos are multicolored and if anything patients and families like them! And they are comfortable and give great back support!

That's good! Our shoe dress code is actually lenient. We are allowed to pretty much wear anything except for crocs. We're even allowed to wear regular tennis shoes. I'm just hoping they are sent in time so I can break them in properly before taking them to work. The fun of starting a new job! Getting new stuff.

Funny, I almost bought the flower power ones but I opted for the multi-colored leopard ones instead. All of my shoes are black or gray and I wanted some color. My facility's shoe dress code is very lenient, too. As long as they are within your policy, I also say go for it! And I agree, they could be a great conversation starter :) Even my boring one-color Danskos can strike up a conversation so imagine what these fun colored ones can do!

Who cares what you wear on the night shift? Seriously, it's not as though you'll be dealing with administration or tons of visitors...as long as your shoes are within the dress code, it's all good.

Those shoes are darling! I wouldn't have had a bit of a problem with my staff wearing them when I was a DON. The only time I got after them about shoes was when they were dirty or ratty....yuck.

I had a friend who worked in the PACU who used to wear bright gold shoes just like that. I was always envious. As I was not working in OR/PACU/L&D or ER, I was restricted to my regular ol' combat boots.

I bought a pair of Danskos that have colorful flowers painted on them and another one that has a bunch of random colors dotted on them for my new job. One bonus was that I found them for under 100 dollars and free shipping. They look cute and fun but I do not work in an ER or a children's floor. I will work in an adult ICU on nights.

I'm not a nurse. As a patient I appreciated anything the staff did to make the hospital a more cheerful place. I appreciated holiday scrubs, fun pins on their badge, colorful shoes, etc. I liked it when someone drew an Easter bunny on my whiteboard.
