Colorful Shoes - Unprofessional?

Nurses Uniform/Gear

I bought a pair of Danskos that have colorful flowers painted on them and another one that has a bunch of random colors dotted on them for my new job. One bonus was that I found them for under 100 dollars and free shipping. They look cute and fun but I do not work in an ER or a children's floor. I will work in an adult ICU on nights.

Could they be viewed as unprofessional?

Before I became disabled, I wore either khaki or navy Docker-type pants with the opposite color short sleeved polo shirt that had the hospital's name and RN MSN embroidered on it. It was the uniform we all wore. What was different was your job ranking.

We all wore socks and sneakers for the most part. I wore the same walking shoes that I exercised, walked, ran, etc. in. I had two pair for work that were silver with denim colored trim and a pair that were white with gray trim. My exercise shoes were plain old white and a pink pair with purple trim.

If you don't have color restrictions, I don't think it matters what color shoes you wear to work. I have always worn really LOUD socks, including to work.

That's a good buy, applesxoranges. I think the color doesn't really matter. As long as it looks clean and presentable, it's totally fine. Fancy shoes can also be fun. I might buy a pair of colored shoes soon...

I have the night print for night shift, multicolor sweater print ones-great for winter ;), leopard print, multicolor gloss...I've got a few, lol...all compliments no warnings!

I always wear the hospital-issue scrubs, so my adorable Alegria clogs are my only spot of color! I get compliments on them all the time, and they are extremely comfortable. I've seen a wide variety of colors on all the staff (one anesthesiologist has fluorescent sneakers in orange, green, and blue), and I hope the hospital never cracks down on shoe color because I hate white--too much potential for staining, between emptying Foleys and drains, the ubiquitous PONVers, etc. So, no, I don't think your shoes are unprofessional at all, as long as they are within the dress code of the hospital and the department.

PLEASE!!! In days of uniform colored scrubs the fre experssion most of us great is our shoes. Wear whatever you like, on whatever floor everyone else does. I don't see why you think it's only for Peds...

You're good! Totally professional. You shouldn't have a problem with them.
