  1. We have phones. They are both good and bad. No matter how many times you tell the pt/family to call the phone instead of the call light - they don't.
  2. I would probably do LPN school. Look around. There are lots of technical schools with flexible schedules. Then bridge into an LPN-RN program. It takes dedication but you can do it. Good luck.
  3. There is no reason to have every pt on continuous monitors. On my regular peds floor they only get it if on oxygen. Not for asthma. Not for seizures. It isn't needed and adds to alarm fatigue.
  4. This sounds sketchy. I think it is all a great premise, but unsure about the reality. I would steer clear. Maybe revisit in a year, and everything should be up and running. If not...be glad you followed your instincts.
  5. We rarely get these babies on our peds floor. When our census drops we float, a lot of times to NICU. I once suggested bringing these babies to our floor and almost had a pediatrician rip my head off.
  6. I like Koi. I am 5'00 and the Grey's Anatomy petites still run long.
  7. I do love mine! Have had my cardiology stethoscope for years. I would advise getting it engraved with your name. Just in case it accidentally takes a walk. Name tags can be removed, but engraving is forever.
  8. Bought mine on Stethoscope.com. Had my Littman engraved. Makes me feel better that it won't walk off. Name tags can be removed, but not engraving.
  9. Our hospital changed a few years ago. I am surprised they are making you buy a certain brand. I wear 2x petite and not every brand comes in that size. That would be tough for me.
  10. I love color! Right now I have a pair of hot pink K-Swiss sneakers. Get positive comments every day.
  11. I agree with the response that you should do peds first. I believe that going to ICU settings right after school is to stressful for the inexperienced.
  12. I did it about 7 years ago, and used an NCLEX pediatric review book. Good Luck!
  13. I work at Memorial and work with and know some of the instructors from South Campus. The ones I know are awesome, and the students I work with are great.
  14. I'm no help there, but I would like to wish you luck. I'm a native Floridian, and FGCU is beautiful.
  15. I love Koi, but we wear Navy, and I find mine fading. I do love my Grey's Anatomy. Dickies too. I have to find petite, so my options are limited. Being in peds, I always find great tops at WalMart.
