Collin College Fall 2011

Published

Hello

I was just wondering who else is applying for the Fall 2011 start at Collin County in McKinney! Do you guys know how many applied & what the minimum amount of points was for the last term? What are your stats? (if you don't mind sharing!) Are you applying anywhere else? What school is your first choice?

I have 14 points. I am applying without one pre-req and received 6 points from the PSB. If I don't get accepted this time, I am hopeful for Spring 2012!

Good luck to everyone!

P.S. If anyone who is in the program or been in the program, has any tips to share, that would be great!!

I wish there was a daycare type setting at our facility. I know Spring Creek has one but I really wish there was one near CPC for those who cannot choose our class times! This is really stressing me out!

Wow, class starts in 3 weeks and you have not found daycare yet? What about sick child care? Have you asked your classmates who they are using? Try posting something on the FB website for CNSA and your class list if you have one.

my mother will be taking my 3 year old child over 400 mi away so that i can attend school.

i simply cannot afford daycare nor do i have family in the area. i would probably be able to afford something with the financial aid i will be receiving but i will not be getting that refund until the end of september. by that time, i am told spots are hard to find. and still there are the costs…

daycare centers simply cost too much and any registered sitters i have found charge anywhere from $10 and up and for an 8 hour day, several days a week… ugh… (someone wanted $25 an hour!)… beginning to think i am in the wrong profession!

so, i have no other alternative but to give up my youngest for school. i am heartbroken.

You must be very dedicated. Get to know your classmates - they will be a lifeline of support for you, which you will need, particularly when school gets stressful on top of your grief over your child being so far from you. Here's a hug from me to you. It is only two years and you are building a better life for all of you. Believe in that with everything you have.

Thank you. I feel like such a horrible mother putting school first but I keep reminding myself, he's young and won't remember this time, and I AM doing all this sacrificing for my family.

I'd BETTER do well! just had my first nursing school nightmare last night! Ugh!

Ah hon, don't put that pressure on yourself. You WILL do just fine. You won't make the grade you want on every exam and you will have to remediate at least once on a skill etc - almost everyone does and that's okay! You learn, you go on and you will graduate in time! Your guilt and grief over your son has the potential to add a really difficult stress to what is already a stressful journey. Really know that the instructors are excellent. They WANT you to succeed. And do your best to put the mommy guilt away. It is hard, I know.
