Collin College Fall 2015 ADN

Published

Hello everyone! I was looking for a thread for Fall 2015 for Collin, and didn't see one, so if there already is one, please share the link. Otherwise, welcome to this thread! I am a pre-nursing student and I am about to take the PSB and put in my application for Fall. Who's with me?

I am super nervous, but so very ready to get going with it.

I got an email for fast pass yesterday. Not any other emails..

I wish my Fast Pass email would come already. I am very anxious about this since bridge students start in a month.

I am not a bride student so don't have an idea about that

So, I was able to get my fast pass working and I got my fingerprinting finished. I've paid for my drug screen, and I'm waiting a couple of weeks to purchase my skills pack. As far as the uniforms, I am only going to buy one set, and a lab coat. That is what was recommended at orientation. For the regular, non bridge students, I know we are allowed to wear any scrubs to the skills lab, and I have a few sets already from phlebotomy training. I have no knowledge about bridge students, as you guys are on a different schedule, at least at first.

Also, I don't know of anyone who was accepted that will be turning it down, but I do know that there were two individuals that were not at the meeting during roll call. They may have come in later, or may have made arrangements, so it doesn't mean they will not be with this group.

I am more pumped than ever! And, if you are in this upcoming class, and haven't gotten on the FB page for our class, you need to join it! There is already discussion, helpful tips, and study guides for week one tests being posted! :) You MUST have been accepted to the program and intend on staying with our group to join.

BTW - mom25gr8kids, I was trying to figure out which person you were at orientation, but I never could pinpoint you. LOL! If we didn't meet there, I know we will soon!

Hey guys. Congratulations to everyone who got into the Fall 2015 ADN program!

I am working on finishing my prerequisites for the program and hope to apply in January for the Fall 2016 program. I am just curious about when the RN courses are offered. I know they are all held at the Central Park Campus but just wondering if they are all offered during the daytime or if there are night class options, etc? I am trying to think ahead as far as work options in the case that I get in (hopefully). Thanks in advance for any insight!

Momofrex... Who did the fingerprinting email come from? Mine is still MIA and I am trying to determine what to search my account for? Is it a collin address? You don't have to give a name?

I haven't received that email either.

It came from the nursing retention recruiter - CR (initials of the person) to my cougarmail acct. I would call the nursing office and request to speak with her.

  • My name is Lindsey Davidson. I am a 4th semester nursing student and I am set to graduate in 2 weeks (Congrats to all who made it in, and big hugs for those who didn't...don't worry keep applying! You can do it!)

The good news is I start my RN job in August. The bad news...I have to resign from my job as a home health attendant for an absolutely wonderful family.

If you are planning on working in peds or psychiatrics, this is a great opportunity.

Here is a quick summary: the schedule is extremely flexible and pays very very well ($17-$20 and hour). The family worked with me with my school schedule, gave me time off to study and go to clinical etc. I go on vacations with them, I celebrate holidays with them (not mandatory...they are just like my second family and I love them so so much), I have literally become family to them. This is the perfect opportunity if you are worried about money and having time to work and go to school. I have worked with this family for three years, and all through nursing school.

A little bit more information. I care for their son who is 13 and who is adopted. He is a loving, fun, energetic, and hilarious boy. But he struggles so much.

He has been diagnosed with many disorders...including autism, pervasive developmental disorder, dyslexia, adhd, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder. Due to his vague family history and non-compliant birth parents...little is known about why he suffers with these issues and what causes them. He is developmentally delayed and mentally delayed...he does not act like a typical 13 year old. HOWEVER...do not let his diagnoses scare you off. He is well-medicated with his symptoms under control...he is not violent AT ALL...he is just a very scared little boy with a very scary brain.

You get to utilize your nursing skills a lot with this job, and every day is completely different than the next. But if you are looking for a part-time job (15-20 hrs a week max...more hours available during school breaks and summer), with great pay, and an unforgettable experience... please contact me!

    P.S.
You can also contact me if you have any questions about the program. Also, I am selling some textbooks as well for a lot cheaper than the bookstore.

mom1xx2xy, I noticed that someone on the El Centro thread was not going to accept her Collin Nursing School acceptance. I don't know how many are wait listed before you...but that would be one spot. :-) MomofRex, I wanted to speak out at the orientation, "Is MomofRex, here", but I chickened out. :-) I think I know who you are. My initials are HM and I am on the Facebook page for our nursing program.

Hey everyone! I got in to Collin College's nursing program for Fall 2015. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'd be happy to help as much as I can.

How many points did you have?
