Congrats to the incoming nursing students from a current Collin College nursing student! I just finished the first semester. It was quite a ride! Good luck to you all. I may later post some of my words of advice that some fellow students and I came up with - because I believe it may be helpful.

It came from the nursing retention recruiter - CR (initials of the person) to my cougarmail acct. I would call the nursing office and request to speak with her.

So, I was able to get my fast pass working and I got my fingerprinting finished. I've paid for my drug screen, and I'm waiting a couple of weeks to purchase my skills pack. As far as the uniforms, I am only going to buy one set, and a lab coat. That is what was recommended at orientation. For the regular, non bridge students, I know we are allowed to wear any scrubs to the skills lab, and I have a few sets already from phlebotomy training. I have no knowledge about bridge students, as you guys are on a different schedule, at least at first. Also, I don't know of anyone who was accepted that will be turning it down, but I do know that there were two individuals that were not at the meeting during roll call. They may have come in later, or may have made arrangements, so it doesn't mean they will not be with this group. I am more pumped than ever! And, if you are in this upcoming class, and haven't gotten on the FB page for our class, you need to join it! There is already discussion, helpful tips, and study guides for week one tests being posted! :) You MUST have been accepted to the program and intend on staying with our group to join. BTW - mom25gr8kids, I was trying to figure out which person you were at orientation, but I never could pinpoint you. LOL! If we didn't meet there, I know we will soon!

I would think so too, but one of my friends didn't get her email today either, and no one that I know that did get it is able to get it to work yet anyway. (including me)

I found the psych online honors class to be pretty easy. I didn't spend too much time on it and still made an A. I highly recommend it to at least get in one point. The teachers initials are M.R. However- you are facing a similar situation as a lot of pther people. The honors points will start coming into play more as time progresses. I'm not sure it was a big deal yet this round. So my advice is: take honors psych online if possible. If not- try not to worry too much yet. I was afraid I wouldn't get in because I'm currently taking micro but I still made it.

I had one honors class finished and was taking another when I got accepted. I retook psych for an honors point. I also retook humanities for another honors point just in case (the one I'm currently in). I went a bit overkill perhaps but I'm in so there is that.

My school is also a community college. We have 50 spots and an average of 250 people applying per round. It's very competitive.

It's hard to comment on your particular school, but I know where I am, you practically have to have a 4.0 to get into the nursing schools. They require a 2.5 however, the competition is fierce and most applicants that are accepted have a 4.0 or just below. I'm not trying to scare you, I just want to be realistic. My school looks at the amount of re-takes that a student has, but I think the focus is mainly on A&P 1, 2 and microbiology. Nursing school is hardcore! They want to know that the students they choose will be hard working, and dedicated and capable of doing the hard courses.

I haven't received any emails yet. I get excited every time I see that I have an email in my cougarmail acct. I'm so ridiculous. Lol! I'll post as soon as I hear anything about anything.

I can tell we have a lot on common, except that I have two kids, instead of 5. I can't wait to meet you! (I was also crying outside, and mine was partially caught on video). My heart is also breaking for those not accepted. It just crossed my mind that some of us may already know each other from taking classes together. Who knows!

Mom25gr8kids- I was ugly crying when I found out. I cried so hard when I called to tell my parents that they couldn't tell if it was good news or not.
