Hi everyone!
This is my first time posting, but I have been on Allnurses for a couple of years now! I really appreciate this community, as you all helped me to get through my prereqs and pass the teas 6.
I have applied to College of Marin's Fall 2017 ADN program, and I'm reaching out to see who else is applying there as well.
In addition to College of Marin, I had to cast a wide net for schools--I also applied to about 9 other schools in and around the area.
I would love to set up a thread so we can keep in contact with each other....I think we start to hear back in April/May.
Good luck to everyone who is applying this round, and I hope you get into your top school!
hi steph, Our group was the first group to start UOPX but I believe the first year students began in the winter semester. With regards to clinical hours classes and work, the first semester is usually Mon-Thurs with theory on Mon and Thurs, and Clinical on Tue WED. I had the opportunity to have clinical at Marin General Hospital,Kaiser Terra Linda, Aurora Behavioral Health, SF General, and St. Luke's Hospital. My biggest advice is be flexible. We all started in 4 different clinical groups. You will spend the first semester learning fundamentals and Med Surg 1 as a group for theory, also Pharmacology one, with you having clinical with your own cohort. You don't start specialty rotations of Med Surg 2, PEDS, PSYCH, and Labor and Delivery, until the second semester. This is your first year's schedule.
My experience has been a very positive one that has flown by in the blink of an eye. I really enjoyed the personal attention all the faculty gave me. Also form study groups, this will help you bounce idea's and help to self teach concepts that are difficult to understand. ( fluid and electrolyte imbalance, ABG's, etc...)
I didn't hear until the middle of May but we had a different person organizing our cohort, She has since retired.
i could go on and on, but I hope this helps.
Congratulations to everyone that received a letter of admission!
Would people with higher numbers, who got accepted, mind posting? I'm trying to gauge how many people they are accepting this year. At the univeristy of phoenix meeting Angela said that it wasn't going to be 43 this year.
If you aren't planning on accepting your spot, would you please let everyone know? Thanks so much, and good luck to everyone!

What did you guys think of the presentation about university of Phoenix last Thursday?
I liked that we can start BEFORE we start our classes @ COM, and get started on our BSN early.
I thought that it was odd that we couldn't start university of Phoenix at a later date. You have to decide now.
I'm curious to hear what other people have to say.
