College of Marin Fall 2017

Published

Hi everyone!

This is my first time posting, but I have been on Allnurses for a couple of years now! I really appreciate this community, as you all helped me to get through my prereqs and pass the teas 6.

I have applied to College of Marin's Fall 2017 ADN program, and I'm reaching out to see who else is applying there as well.

In addition to College of Marin, I had to cast a wide net for schools--I also applied to about 9 other schools in and around the area.

I would love to set up a thread so we can keep in contact with each other....I think we start to hear back in April/May.

Good luck to everyone who is applying this round, and I hope you get into your top school!

Does anybody need a carpool buddy that is coming through Point Richmond area? Also, I am having a hard time printing the required Kaiser learn segment certs, anybody else having an issue or know how to solve? Lastly, If we might be interested in Sonoma State linked program ((I know that they dont accept many)) how do I put my name in that pot? THANKS and looking forward to the picnic,

Sonoma State doesn't open their application for the bridge program until Spring. They typically hold 11-12 spots for COM students, but that doesn't necessarily mean they will fill those spots with COM students. Admission to their bridge program is completely merit based, whereas Phoenix will accept anyone regardless of GPA.

Hi thanks for the info, merit based including GPA from pre req or other degree if applicable?? Or you mean merit based just from the first two terms at COM? How do they determine who they pick if people have the same GPA, is there also a lottery? Is it usually over 3.5? Do we apply to Sonoma State general (not bridge application) ((are they different applications?)) now to get the ball rolling --or wait for Spring as well for that? Also, why did they use to have more spots and now less, just curious, thanks...!

They require a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 from all college courses ever taken. You do not apply to Sonoma State first. They will have an info session either late fall or early spring that will go into detail the whole process. I'm not sure how many spots they had in the past but the spots in the BSN bridge program are shared amongst COM, SRJC, Solano, Napa, and I think a couple other programs. I'm not sure how they determine who gets in from COM if they have more qualified students that spots available. The year before I think they ended up taking 15 COM students. This past year they only took 4 or 5 out of the 11-12 COM students who applied I guess for qualification reasons. I was one of those who did not get in. I was already signed on with Phoenix but thought I would apply to Sonoma State since I live right down the steeet from them. I had a cumulative GPA of 2.96 and they rejected me. The classes that brought down my GPA were classes I took almost a decade ago. But they require transcripts from every college/university you attended. If you omit anything, they will reject your application. But yeah, you don't need to do anything about Sonoma State right now. Angela will keep your cohort in the loop when it's time to begin the application process.

@mgh3478, thanks very helpful and clear on my end now, I know you said you wouldn't be at the picnic, but hope to meet ya down the line too, Tess(Dubnation)

If you're gonna be at the NE 95 class the week before classes begin, I should be able to meet all of you. The 2nd years have a skills refresher course that week :)
