Hi everyone!
This is my first time posting, but I have been on Allnurses for a couple of years now! I really appreciate this community, as you all helped me to get through my prereqs and pass the teas 6.
I have applied to College of Marin's Fall 2017 ADN program, and I'm reaching out to see who else is applying there as well.
In addition to College of Marin, I had to cast a wide net for schools--I also applied to about 9 other schools in and around the area.
I would love to set up a thread so we can keep in contact with each other....I think we start to hear back in April/May.
Good luck to everyone who is applying this round, and I hope you get into your top school!
Hi everyone! I am in Chohort 4. Looking forward to meeting everyone in a few weeks. One of my friends who went through the program gave me a pair of size small scrubs and a small lab coat (both of them came from the dove website). Unfortunately, they don't fit me. I am willing to sell them for a negotiable price if anyone is interested.
Hey Eric & Ashley, I'm Stephanie T from cohort 4. That's good news about the shoes Eric. I went to the book store yesterday and was able to get 4 of the required books. They are not doing "bundles" this year because they have lost too much money on them in the past. The other required books should be at the bookstore within the next couple weeks, the manager said. Has anyone been able to get onto the Nusing moodle page? Last night cohort 4 receieved an email from Sarah with the confidentiality and info packet for MGH and Sarah stated in the email that the info is also available on moodle, maybe I'm going to the wrong place?
@mgh3478 thank you! You're so fast and awesome at responding. Do they determine location and rotations by location of the students. I'm in cohort 4 and were evening at the Marin General. I really want to do rotations at the SFG because of the mental health there. Also do you know what KTD rehab is ?
No problem! They used to form groups based on location but I guess it was too complicated. It doesn't really matter though because ultimately you end up going all over the place including hospitals in the East Bay and Aurora in Santa Rosa for the Psych rotation. My best advice is to make friends with people that live near you and form a carpool group. I live in Rohnert Park and most of the Sonoma County people try to carpool as much as possible. The only rotations we've done so far at San Francisco General are a couple minor out-rotations for Maternal/Newborn and depending on which semester you have Pediatrics, you may be there for that. But as it is now the main hospital in the city we have a regular rotation at is St. Luke's. Unfortunately, once you're assigned a clinical group it's a done deal. They won't switch you for any reason. KTD Rehab is Kentfield Rehab. It's down the street from Marin General Hospital. It's mainly for severely and chronically ill patients who need continuous care. I've never had a rotation there but my friends that have gone there said that while it's tough, you do see and learn A LOT.
My name is Mandy. I think I said in a previous post that I am one of the 1st year liaisons for the Student Nurse's Association. Unfortunately I will not be attending the picnic because I'm doing a Doula workshop that weekend. But I will be on campus during that week for the 2nd Year's refresher skills lab. I'm sure I will meet any 1st Years who are taking NE 95 that week!
Hi All!
I was asked by some of the Faculty to create a Facebook Group for all of you. I know some of you already mentioned making one, but I wasn't sure if this had been done already. I tried searching on Facebook for a group but didn't see one.
You can now go on Facebook and request to join your class's group. The name is "COM Nursing Class of 2019." It is a closed group so you have to request to join. If you've reached out to any of your classmates who won't see this message, please pass it along or invite them to the Facebook group.
Thank you :)

Hello Everyone, This is Eric of Cohort 4. Ignore what is stated within the email. According to the Administrative Assistant Sarah, as far as shoes go, any white sneakers will work great. Most students choose to wear white athletic shoes for comfort (new balance, nike, etc.) The most important thing is that they are comfortable!
